Call Description

Fort Works Art invites artists across the globe to submit figurative works that explore presence, identity, and the power of the human form. In celebration of the landmark Jenny Saville exhibition, The Anatomy of Painting at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, the only U.S. museum to host this monumental show, we are pleased to announce The Marks We Make, an open-call, national juried exhibition honoring the power and presence of contemporary figurative art. This open call is more than an exhibition. It is a chance to enter into dialogue with one of the most important artists of our time, and to share in the energy of a season when the art world’s gaze will be firmly on Fort Worth.

This exhibition, juried by Sara-Jayne Parsons, Director and Curator of the Art Galleries at Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, will showcase exceptional figurative pieces by contemporary artists across the country.

Selected artists will be announced via social media and receive an email with information on dropping off and shipping works.

All selected works will be featured in an exhibition at Fort Works Art Gallery in Fort Worth from November 7, 2025 to January 17, 2025, with an Opening Reception/ Award Ceremony held on November 7, 2025 from 6-9 PM.

For Selected Artists- Shipping and Delivery Requirements: All shipped works must be received no later than 5:00 PM on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 to be included in the exhibition. Late deliveries cannot be accommodated under any circumstances. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs, including return shipping, and must include a pre-paid return label with their work. Full shipping instructions will be provided upon acceptance.

FORT WORKS ART: Fort Works Art is committed to bringing life, vitality, and energy to the art scene in Fort Worth, TX.  They are a resource for both seasoned collectors and the everyday individual.  Existing somewhere between a gallery, a cultural center, and a museum, Fort Works Art strives to continually evolve into its' own entity, free from the traditional labels of the art world. They exist to support the arts, to give back to the community, and to inspire youth.
