Dynamics of Color

Gallery 621, a contemporary fine art gallery in Benicia, California invites artists to submit entries to a juried show exploring the artist’s relationship with color. Color can express mood and emotions of joy, celebration, intimacy, sadness, despair, and more. The intent of the exhibition is to demonstrate how the choice of color impacts both the artist and the viewer as the viewer responds to the artist’s vision.

All art is to be hand-delivered; no shipped art.

IMPORTANT DATES:
Entry Deadline: November 15, 2025 at 10:59 pm
Notification to Artists: December 1, 2025
Delivery of Artwork: December 26-28, 2025, 12 pm – 5 pm (during open gallery hours) and Monday, December 29, 10  am-12 pm. No shipped work. 
Exhibition: January 2, 2026 through February 1, 2026
Artists' Reception: January 10, 2026, 4 pm – 7 pm
Artwork Pickup: February 1, 2026, 5 – 6 pm and February 2, 2025, 10 am – 5 pm.

ABOUT THE JUROR: Chester Arnold lives and works in Sonoma County, having painted and taught in institutions throughout the Bay Area for decades. Examples of his paintings may be found in the San Jose Museum of Art, SFMOMA,the Museums of Sonoma County and beyond.  the Fresno Museum of Art staged a 50-year retrospective exhibition of his work in 2022.

Application Requirements

ENTRY FEES: A non-refundable fee of $45 is required for application. This fee covers the first image. Additional images may be submitted for $5 each up to 6 images. One application per artist only. Online submissions are not considered complete until payment is made. 

SALES: All artwork must be for sale. If an artwork is sold, Gallery 621 will mail a payment of 60% of the sale price to the artist within 30 days of the close of the exhibit. Gallery pays all sales tax.

PHOTOGRAPHY and PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS: Your entry gives Gallery 621permission to use images of your artwork and to photograph the artwork for promotional, educational or historical purposes.

LIABILITY: All due care and caution will be taken in the handling of artwork. Gallery 621 has limited insurance for the contents of the gallery against damage or theft.  The artist assumes all liability for artwork during the show (from the day of delivery
through the day of removal) and should obtain their own insurance coverage in order to mitigate any potential loss.

Eligibility Criteria

ELIGIBILITY: Open to all artists who are able to deliver works to Gallery 621 in Benicia, California (no shipped work). Entries must be original artwork completed in the last 5 years, 2021 - 2025.

2D and 3D works are eligible, including painting collage, mixed media, photography, textile arts, sculpture and assemblage. 2D works are limited to a size of 30” x 30”; 3D works are limited to a 30” footprint.The subject matter is the artist’s choice.
