Call Description
West Portal Gallery invites artists residing in the San Francisco Bay Area to submit artwork for consideration in our 1st Annual Open Juried Exhibition. This exhibition will showcase the depth and diversity of creative practice in our region and celebrate the role of art in community life. Works will be juried by volunteer members of Azgour Art Group (azgourartgroup.com), a community of artists dedicated to education, mentorship, and artistic growth. Selected works will be professionally presented in salon style in the gallery, accompanied by an opening reception, live music, and refreshments.
As a new community-based contemporary art space, West Portal Gallery is dedicated to presenting high-quality, accessible artwork and providing opportunities for artists and residents alike to connect through exhibitions, cultural events, and educational programs. With rotating exhibitions, cultural evenings, and professional development opportunities, the gallery is becoming a growing space for both artists and community members alike.

Artwork Drop-Off
Accepted artworks must be dropped off in person during one of the following times:
· Saturday, Jan 24: 11 AM – 4 PM
· Sunday, Jan 25: 11 AM – 3 PM
· Monday, Jan 26 – Friday, Jan 30: 9 AM – 3 PM
Artwork Pick-Up
Accepted artworks must be picked up in person during one of the following times:
· Saturday, Mar 7: 11 AM – 4 PM
· Sunday, Mar 8: 11 AM – 3 PM
· Monday, Mar 9 – Wednesday, Mar 11: 9 AM – 3 PM
IMPORTANT: All artworks must be dropped off and picked up in person. We cannot accommodate artworks shipped to or from the gallery.

Application Requirements
Submission Materials
· 1-10 images (up to 3 images per entry included in the base fee; additional works may be submitted for $10 each)
· Each image should include in the file name:
o Artist Name
o Title
o Medium
o Size (H x W ")
· Artist statement (max 1000 characters)
Entry Fee
· $40 for up to 3 pieces.
· $10 for each additional piece.
· Maximum of 10 images per artist.
Eligibility Criteria
Open to artists residing in the greater San Francisco Bay Area:
· San Francisco Bay Area: San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma counties.
· Central Valley: Sacramento, Yolo, and San Joaquin counties.
· Central Coast: Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz counties.
Artists must be 18 years or older.
All media and styles are welcome, including painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, printmaking, fiber, and digital art.
Artwork must be original and created within the last three years.
All work must be fitted with hangers and ready to hang.
All artwork must be either framed or presented with neatly wrapped and painted sides (no exposed staples). We reserve the right to remove any work that does not meet our exhibition standards or that differs from the work originally accepted.
