Call Description

The Yellowstone Art Museum in partnership with the Billings Airport is excited to announce the second art exhibition at the BIL Terminal Display Space. The space is an elegant and expansive exhibition area in the new eastern wing of the airport’s terminal. Selected artists can expect lots of exposure from travelers, especially during the holiday season. The first exhibition during May - Aug of this year received (approximately) over 500,000 views. After this very successful first exhibition, we look forward to the opportunity to create another inspiring display of contemporary art in Montana.

The show is open to all Montana based artists that work in 2D and 3D mediums. This exhibition will be on display from Nov 12th until the end of May. Due to the limitations of the display space, the jury will be selecting medium to large scale artworks only. Unfortunately, small pieces would be overwhelmed by the space and depth of the display. Additionally, we are not able to accept any video, digital, sound-based, performative, or installation style artworks. Accepted artwork must adhere to the display rules at the Billings Airport (See below).

Artwork submissions will be accepted from Sept 24th until Oct 26th at midnight. A free application coupon is available for all who apply before October 20th (See below). Applications must include a CV and artist statement. All accepted artworks must be delivered or shipped to the Yellowstone Art Museum by date along with a full inventory list and declared value of artworks. Selection for this exhibition will be done via a juried process that is composed of leaders and representatives from the Billings Arts Community. The jury will make their selections by October 29th and artists will be informed of their decision by the end of that week. The show is anticipated to be on display from Nov 19th until the end of May. The Airport and Museum will facilitate a display agreement with selected artists that will cover the artworks under the Airports insurance policy.
