A Generous Queendom: Art that Explores Symbolism, Story, and Beyond

Verum Ultimum Art Gallery invites artists to explore the theme, "A Generous Queendom:  Art that explores symbolism, story, and beyond" for its first iteration Artists are encouraged to enter work that is any interpretation of the call.   As with all Verum Ultimum's calls, the hope is to unveil unique visions. All mediums and modes of expression are welcome from low brow, pop surrealism, abstraction, and more. This call emphasizes the idea of revealing and/or honoring a narrative or legacy.  The term Queendom may be interpreted in many ways, not necessarily meant to be a literal elucidation.  Does your work seem to create a realm or a remembrance or representation of the idea of home or place? Does your process tell the story? Is legacy or mythos revealed through your work or your process?  Do you inadvertently honor or celebrate the plethora or abundance of...through your work? Verum Ultimum Gallery invites artists on this quest that will define A Generous Queendom!

And you may recognize the gist of this theme! For the past decade the Verum theme was formerly titled A Generous Kingdom and while the term was never meant to hold a literal elucidation, shifting to the term to Queendom feels fitting right now.  Verum is eager to see what will be revealed…

EXHIBITION DATES:
Opening Reception will be in November (exhibition runs from mid November through end of December 2025)

ELIGIBILITY AND RESTRICTIONS:
The competition is open to all 2D and 3D artists, national and international, working in all forms of painting, drawing, photography, graphics, digital, and sculpture are eligible. Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to apply. For this show wall mounted works must not be taller than 54" no wider than 48". 

EXHIBITION: 
Selected artists will be featured in a group exhibition at the Verum Ultimum Art Gallery in Portland, Oregon. There will be an opening reception. The exhibition will also be posted on the Verum Ultimum Gallery web site. One artist may be featured in an online blogpost interview

EXHIBITION TERMS:
All works in the show must be for sale. The gallery will take a 35 percent commission on all sales. Sale price is determined by the artist.

ENTRY FEES: 
There is a $27.00 entry fee for 2 works entered and additional entries are OPTIONAL. Presentation of work for jury purposes is by digital JPG image files. Details of artwork count as an additional artwork.

 Accepted artists will not be charged additional fees of any kind.

IMAGE USE / COPYRIGHTS: 
Artist retains all copyrights to submitted images and represented artwork. Digital images submitted with artist entry are for exhibition selection only and will be deleted after completion of the selection process. By entering the competition, artists selected to exhibit grant Verum Ultimum Gallery rights to use the selected image(s) on printed materials and the gallery web site for promotional purposes only. Verum Ultimum retain no copyrights to artists work. 

NOTIFICATION: 
Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance by November 10th. Notification will be made via email. All artists who provide a working email address will be notified via email, if no email is provided, artists will be notified via postal mail only if accepted to exhibit. Type your email address clearly, if a mistake is made you will not be notified. 

PRIVACY POLICY: 
Artist contact information (address, telephone, etc.) is only held for the purpose of contacting selected artists and is not preserved in any database. Entry data and image files are deleted on the completion of the jury process. 

DEADLINE: 
The entry deadline is October 23, 2025. Entries must be submitted via Café (https://www.callforentry.org/) by this date.

2 images of entered artwork are required for review purposes (can be 2 distinct works or 2 images of same work). Additional entries over 2 are optional.
