Universal Expressions is the Art of Human experiences – Love, Fear, Joy, Sorrow, Sadness, Anger, Surprise, Life, Death, Conflict… reminding viewers of their shared emotional commonalities regardless of background. It also fosters empathy and understanding between people from diverse cultures, serving as a powerful tool for building bridges and promoting connections.

In essence, the artistic meaning of universal expressions lies in art’s capacity to serve as a shared language, directly speaking to the emotional core of humanity and creating a bridge of understanding across all barriers.

Hugo Rivera Gallery is looking for artwork that captures the essence of universal expressions through facial expressions of emotion, and through color and forms that can have strong emotional association that may be universal or nearly so, allowing abstract art to evoke feelings without relying on specific cultural context.

We are looking for unique and out of the ordinary images.

Submissions are open to all artists 18 years and older, established and emerging artists.

Mediums: Open to any medium

Entry fee includes First image $35.00               $5.00 for any additional image 

Maximum of 3 images

Eligibility Criteria

SPECIFICATIONS:
The exhibition will consist of two-dimensional work in all media. Wall pieces must be wired for hanging and no larger than 24″ W X 30″ H (Dimensions include framing and mounting). Accepted work cannot be substituted and must be available for the duration of the exhibit. Please contact The Gallery with questions about shipping concerns before you apply.

SUBMISSION:
Submit one to three JPG or JPEG digital images. 
File dimensions: 1200 pixels or greater on the longest side
File size: 5 MB maximum
You are welcome to send more than one angle or a close-up image of any work, however, please keep in mind that we only display 1 image per artwork.

For 2D works please crop the picture to be of the ARTWORK ONLY. Use a photo-editing app, if necessary, to remove excess shadows/highlights/blurriness/etc.

ACCEPTED ARTWORK must be delivered clean, framed, wired and ready to hang. Work to hang on the wall must be fitted with framing wire. Paint and any other materials must be dry. Each artwork must be clearly labeled on the back of the piece with the following information: Artist’s name, phone number, measurements, and title of the work.

If your art is selected for an in-gallery exhibition, you should submit a printed artist biography to be placed besides your art.
