Call Description

Storied is a juried group exhibition open to all narrative art! Any medium is welcome and all artists 18+ years of age residing in the United States are eligible.

Narrative artwork is that which tells a story. Whether it be a personal experience, a historical happening, or an imagined tale… narrative artwork brings us together in a shared experience of curiosity and interpretation. It allows artists to communicate directly to the viewer, pulling them in to a moment in time or a sequence of events.

From Frida Kahlo’s many hauntingly beautiful self portraits to Artemisia Gentileschi’s interpretation of “Susanna and the Elders,” and even as far back as cave paintings, artists have always found ways to tell a story through their work. At its very core, art is a form of communication, allowing its viewer to think and feel, interpret and explore, learn and grow. This exhibition is open to all those who tell stories, in any medium.
