Call Description

HOLLYWOOD invites artists of every discipline to create work inspired by American film. You don’t need movie knowledge; impressions, moods, colors, shadows, spaces, and the ways moving images appear in your world are valid starting points. Film lovers can also draw from scenes, characters, genres, iconic moments, shots, or movies that shaped them. Think one striking detail—a gesture, a prop, a frame, a pattern, a piece of architecture, or a bit of dialogue—and let it grow into your visual language. A wide range of responses is welcome, from tributes to loose interpretations and abstract echoes. We accept painting, sculpture, photography, installation, video, textiles, ceramics, collage, digital work, mixed media, sound, comics, and experiments. Located in Denver’s Art District on Santa Fe, The Lab on Santa Fe offers strong visibility through First Fridays along with a reputation for selling large amounts of art. Bring us Hollywood in any form—direct, distorted, reinvented, or barely traceable yet charged with its influence.

Application Requirements

Please include framed size in application. Any work 5 inches larger at drop-off than what is stated on application can be turned away.

Eligibility Criteria

-Measurements need to be correct on application. The curator has the right to turn away work at drop-off if it is not accurate in size. This includes framing.

-All out-of-state artists accepted understand that they must cover all shipping costs to and from Colorado.

-Art can be turned away if wire hanger is not attached to the back of the pieces or sides of stretched canvas are unpainted
