Call Description
The Greene Fellowship was founded in 2022, in loving memory of Bradford W. Greene. Co-founders Alexander Blume and Hannah Agosta created this fellowship to honor Brad's generosity and unwavering support of artists. They hope that the unrestricted stipend, in addition to mentorship and professional development training at a critical point in an artist's career, will push the needle forward for them in a meaningful way, leading to increased visibility and sustainability.
The Greene Fellowship is reserved for working artists in the field of contemporary visual art and living in Colorado or Western North Carolina. We look for artists with a well-developed portfolio that demonstrates a high level of skill, commitment, and authentic voice. As a critical part of this fellowship, artists will be given access to experienced professionals working in the field of visual art, as well as business leaders and experts who can guide them in their professional development. Artists will be expected to participate in monthly workshops with these professionals, in addition to mentorship sessions with our co-founders. Towards the end of the fellowship, artists will showcase the work they've made throughout the year at a culminating exhibition (location and date to be determined).
Selection Criteria
- Does the artist have a unique vision and style?
- Does the artist demonstrate a strong commitment to their creative practice?
- Has the artist achieved mastery in their medium and an ability to convey their vision?
- Can the artist communicate the arts’ value in a compelling way?
- Can the fellowship help the artist grow artistically and professionally?
Application Requirements
Artists will be asked to submit 5-10 portfolio samples (images or videos), which demonstrate a high level of skill and commitment to their practice. Videos must be 60 seconds or shorter. Artists will be asked to submit a clear and concise artist statement explaining the concepts and mediums they work with and why. Artists will also be asked what obstacles they face, how this award would impact their lives, and what their vision for the future looks like.
