Call Description
Nationally recognized fiber artists Emilie Odeile and Ken Chapin will jury this show based on the theme of “Homage.” We invite fiber artists to submit samples of works that point to something larger than themselves, whether that’s a cultural icon, a personal history, an artistic lineage, a symbolic figure, or the notion of starting over and reinventing oneself.
This ties in well with some of our own pieces that will be included. For example, Tom Mix Wept reflects the iconic persona of Tom Mix—his particular blend of strength and softness—while FROG is an homage to Mondrian through color structure and also speaks to the idea of starting over and reinventing oneself.
For artists submitting work, the homage could come through color choices, subject matter, material selection, technique, or emotional register of the piece. The key is that the work gestures toward something beyond itself—something held, remembered, reinterpreted, or honored.
Application Requirements
Submit up to five unique works. You may submit multiple angles. Include your contact information, City and State, price of works, materials used, techniques, and dimensions.
Eligibility Criteria
Open to fiber artists--established to emerging--working in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, and Montana.
