Have A Seat ~ The Painted Chair: A Juried Exhibition of Painted Chairs”

• Niza Knoll Gallery invites artists to submit work for “Have A Seat” a juried exhibition celebrating the creative transformation of everyday chairs into works of functional art. This exhibition explores the chair as both object and canvas—an opportunity for artists to push the boundaries of design, storytelling, and craftsmanship.
• Open to all artists, 18 and older.
• Any type of chair may be used: wood, metal, plastic,  or upholstered.
• Chairs must be functional and usable.
• Artists may include one small matching side table if it is designed as part of the chair concept.
• All work must be original, artist-designed, and ready for display.
• Collaborative works are welcome.
• There is no required theme beyond creatively transforming a chair into an expressive art piece. Artists may use:
• Painting
• Mixed media
• Collage
• Drawing
• Surface treatments
• Pattern, imagery, abstract or representational work

The gallery may accept paintings of chairs please check with gallery before submiting at   nizak@mac.com. 

Size no larger than 48 wide x 72 tall.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

• Fom 1 to 4 entries per artist
• Each entry must include:
  • Artist name and contact information
  • Title of work
  • Dimensions
  • Media
  • retail price
  • A brief artist statement
  •  
• Work must be delivered ready for installation.

IMPORTANT DATES

• Submission Deadline:April 7, 2026
• Acceptance Notifications April 10, 2026
• Artwork Drop-off: Tuesday...April 14, 2026
• Exhibition Dates:April 17 - MAY 31, 2026
• Opening Reception:FRIDAY, APRIL April 17 from 5-8 pm
• Artwork must be for sale.
• Standard gallery commission applies:
• artist 60% / Gallery 40%

Application Requirements

• All submitted artwork must be original. NO AI or giclé
• Accepted work must be dropped off in person at the gallery - 915 Santa Fe Drive, Denver.
• Do not submit work if you do not have the ability to do this on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 between 12 - 4 pm
• Fee for entry is $38.00 for 1 to 4 entries. Non-refundable

 Submissions must include:

1)  Artist's contact information with email and mobile phone number that accepts text messages.

2)  Short paragraph about the submitted work.

3)  Information about the artwork- Title, Size, Medium and Retail Price (Please price with the knowledge that the gallery commission on sales is 40%)

 You must be aware of these dates and be able to meet these important deadlines.

• Entry Deadline: Aprik 7, 2026
• Announcement of accepted works: April 10,2026

Drop off accepted work: TUESDAY April 14, 2026 beteen 12 - 4 pm

• Exhibition Dates: April 17 - May 31, 2026
• Artist Reception: Friday, April 17 between 5 - 8 pm
• Art Pickup: Sunday, May 31 between 3-5 pm

Eligibility Criteria

• Artist must have the ability to drop off accepted work in person at 915 Santa Fe Drive in Denver, Colorado  on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. between 12 - 4 pm
• NO SHIPPING or  delivery services accepted.
• All accepted artworks must be for sale and remain in the gallery until Sunday, Sunday, May 31, 2026
• Gallery commission is 40% of sales price.
• Applicant must be over 18 years of age.
• Artists are solely responsible for delivery and pick-up of all artworks. NO SHIPPING or  delivery services accepted.
• Submission fees are non-refundable.

 Presentation / Hanging Requirements.

• All artworks must be well executed, clean, dry and ready to display.

2D work must not exceed 48”wide x  72 high 

• If the work will be hung it must be ready to hang with a secure wire on the back.
• For special hanging please bring instructions and any special nails.
• All work must not exceed 30 pounds. If work weighs more than 30 pounds artist may need to help install the piece.
• All art must be brought into gallery on Tuesday, April 14 between 12 -4 pm
• NO SHIPPING or Delivery Services accepted
