2026 National Art Exhibition Prospectus - Sponsored by the Stockton Art League at the Haggin Museum
Exhibition Dates: September 3 - October 25, 2026
This is an open National Juried Exhibition. Cash Awards: Ruby Zahn White Best of Show ($1,000), Second Place ($500), Third Place ($250), and additional merit awards.
ELIGIBILITY: Open to U.S.-based artists working in all visual media, excluding video and installation art.
About the Exhibition:
The 63rd Stockton Art League Juried Exhibition returns to the Haggin Museum. Established in 1951 to recognize, promote, and reward excellence in Northern California art, the exhibition has grown into a national juried competition showcasing 2D and 3D artworks.
The exhibition is presented in partnership with the Stockton Art League, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting art education and fostering visual arts development for all ages throughout Stockton and San Joaquin County.
About the Museum:
The Haggin Museum, an art and history museum, has been referred to by Sunset Magazine as one of the undersung gems of California. It contains more than 34,000 square feet of exhibit space, twice as large as it was on opening day in 1931. Its art collection features works by such noted 19th-century painters as Albert Bierstadt, Rosa Bonheur, and William-Adolphe Bouguereau, J.C. Leyendecker, as well as many other American and European artists. In 2017, the Haggin underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation including new wall and floor treatments, and new LED lighting in the gallery. The impressive brick building has stood in the center of Stockton’s lush Victory Park for 95 years, but it’s what’s on the inside that makes it worth visiting.
JUROR:
Francesca Wilmott is a Curator at the Crocker Art Museum, where she is responsible for the Museum’s collections of post-war and contemporary art as well as photography. She holds a Ph.D. in art history from The Courtauld Institute of Art in London. Wilmott's writing has appeared in Artforum magazine, A World History of Women Photographers (Thames & Hudson, 2022), Marcel Broodthaers: A Retrospective (The Museum of Modern Art, 2016), and Yoko Ono: One Woman Show (The Museum of Modern Art, 2015), among other publications. She is currently organizing the career retrospective of Gladys Nilsson, which will open at the Crocker in summer 2026, and is co-curating the Crocker's 2028 exhibition Black Artists in California: Nineteenth Century to Now with Unity Lewis.
