About the Curtis Center for the Arts

Originally built as a one-room schoolhouse in 1914, the historic red-brick building now serves as the Curtis Center for the Arts. The school opened in 1901 without electricity or running water, on land donated by Mary J. Curtis. In 1991, the building was dedicated as the Curtis Arts & Humanities Center. Today, the Curtis Center is owned and operated by the City of Greenwood Village and continues to serve the community through visual art exhibitions, classes, lectures, and special events.
