Call Description

We're bringing the art of the protest into the professional art space.  Bring us your protest posters, your cardboard effigies, your angry art, for we are stronger together than alone. Too many have been affected and hurt by the actions of the current regime to stay silent.  Join us as we raise our voices and our art against the establishment.

We're looking for art on the subjects of:

- Discrimination

- Immigration

- Education

- Science

- Economics

- Politics & the Rule of Law

- Empathy

- Human Rights

Expedition Dates: 

May 8- May 24 (opening reception May 8)  Accepted work will be exhibited at NEXT Gallery in the 40 West Arts Hub in Lakewood, Colorado. 

DEADLINE:

Entry deadline is midnight, (MST) April 5th, 2026. No late applications will be considered.

SELECTION:
Submissions will be juried by wine mom and woke b***ch, LeAnn Fenton and art professional Pam Farris.

NOTIFICATION:

Artists will be notified by Wednesday, April 15th, 2026.

DROP OFF:

Accepted artwork drop off is Monday, May 3rd, 2026, time TBD.

Specific arrangements will be made with out-of-state artists.

MAILED ENTRIES

Accepted artists will receive an email that includes shipping address for mailed artwork. Since NEXT is not open during the week, artwork will be mailed to a different address for security. Mailed works must include pre-paid shipping for return. Mailed works must be carefully packed and must not exceed 38" in any dimension. Packing materials must be able to be easily repacked for return, NO PACKING PEANUTS. Insurance is strongly recommended as NEXT Gallery is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items/shipping costs. Work must be shipped through UPS or FEDEX. 

FEES:

The fee for the NEXT Gallery "Woke, triggered..." show is $35 per entry. Entry fees must be paid through callforentry.org  Fees are non-refundable and do not guarantee acceptance into the show. Fees and commission % go to the NEXT Gallery coop and enable us to rent the gallery, pay utilities, pay for calls for entry, and create an active artist community in Lakewood, Colorado. 

SALES:

Sold artwork will incur a 33% commission. Prices quoted on the entry form may not be changed after acceptance. Buyer will be charged sales tax for Lakewood area and buyer will be charged any applicable shipping fees.

Artwork must remain in the gallery until the exhibition closes.

Artists will be notified by email of any sales, and will receive payment for any sold works within one month of the close of the exhibition.

Application Requirements

Submissions will only be accepted through Callforentry.org (www.callforentry.org).  Entries and credit card payment must be submitted on or before the posted deadline, with no entries accepted after 12:59pm April 5th, 2026.

SCULPTURES/3-D ART: 3-D artists should submit a video of their piece. 

Upload requirements for image files:

  • File format: JPEG only
  • File dimensions: No smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side
  • File resolution: 72 ppi/dpi (standard web resolution)
  • File size: 5 MB maximum
  • Image must be correctly oriented (vertical or horizontal)
  • No digital enhancement is allowed

Eligibility Criteria

All mediums accepted except for AI art. Speech is for humans not robots. If submitting digital work, process proof must be shown; it could be raw files with layers or a making video. All work must be printed and ready to hang for the show. Pieces should be smaller than 5ft in any one dimension (Shipped artwork may not exceed 38" in any direction due to safe handling risk), though exceptions may be made depending on the piece and available space. 

All artwork must be original in concept and not copied from another artist's work.  

Only entries submitted online through callforentry.org will be considered.
