Call Description
The Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History, in collaboration with the Association of Clay and Glass Artists of California (ACGA), is organizing Silica / SiO2: Northern California Ceramics. This exhibition highlights the vitality of contemporary ceramics in California. The exhibition is open to all Northern California-based ceramic artists working in clay, featuring a limited number of invited Bay Area ceramic artists alongside works selected through an open application process.
The exhibition dates are September 4, 2026-January 3, 2027.
The call for entries will be open from March 15 to May 1. Submissions will be juried by Stan Welsh, a respected ceramic artist and Professor Emeritus at San Jose State University.
Application Requirements
Artists will:
- Submit up to three artworks to be considered.
- Include a short bio / artist statement.
- For wall-hanging artworks: please include a photo of the hardware/hanging side.
- IMPORTANT: Photo file names must match the title of the artwork in the photo. For example, photos of an artwork titled "Trimming" should be renamed to "Trimming-1", "Trimming-2", etc.
CaFÉ accepts only the following image types: JPEG; minimum 1,200 pixels, maximum 5 MB.

Must be working in Northern California or be affiliated with the area.
