Call Description

HOME v.2: Homeland

Presented by the Decatur Arts Alliance
Decatur, Georgia
May 29 - July 17, 2026

The Decatur Arts Alliance and the Decatur Land Trust are partnering with the Decatur Library to present the second edition of powerful art show celebrating the multifaceted meaning of "Home."  We invite artists of all mediums to lend their creative voices to this important cause.

The theme for 2026 is “HOMELAND.”

A person's or a people's native land, we look to explore “homeland” as a geographical point of origin and a state of being. Works should express cultural and ethnic elements, and elucidate the view of “home” from the immigrant to the expatriate, the displaced to the indigenous. How do we find “home” when we are away from the land of our forebears? What do newly arrived peoples do to preserve their culture and heritage? How do we honor and acknowledge the indigenous inhabitants of the lands upon which we all now live?

We encourage you to explore these themes and more in your artwork.  Let your creativity illuminate the diverse ways we experience and define "home," and your connection with a “HOMELAND."

The HOME Exhibition is a juried multimedia showcase presented by the Decatur Arts Alliance in collaboration with the Decatur Land Trust and the Decatur branch of the Dekalb County Public Library. The exhibition will be shown in the Fourth Floor Gallery of the Decatur Library, home to the Georgia Center for the Book. Applications will be accepted on CaFÉ February 16 - March 29, 2026. The show will run May 29 - July 17, 2026, with an opening reception on Friday, May 29 from 6:30-9pm.

EXHIBITION LOCATION

The exhibition will be installed in the Fourth Floor Gallery of the Decatur Library, part of the DeKalb County Public Library.

The City of Decatur, DeKalb County, Georgia, is located just east of and adjacent to the city of Atlanta’s in-town communities and near the metro area suburbs. With more than 200 shops and restaurants in commercial districts around the Square and in historic Oakhurst Village, Decatur is a popular shopping, dining, entertainment, and arts destination. Twenty-four thousand residents live in Decatur’s quiet, tree-lined neighborhoods and downtown condominiums, and as the DeKalb County seat, this thriving commercial community is the epicenter of county business. www.decaturga.com
