Call Description

Call Type: Fine Art, Photography & Mixed Media Competition, Virtual Exhibit and Online Sale

Eligibility: National. Applicant must be 18 years or older and a resident of the United States. All works must be original work of the artist and submitted through CaFE.

State: New York

Entry Fee: Applications can be made to all three categories: Fine Art, Photography & Mixed Media (crafts). Fees are per category. $25.00 for first entry. $5.00 per additional entry (called media fee).

Applications Accepted: Apply through CaFE from 4/1/26 through 5/31/26.

Dates of Notification of Acceptance: 6/15/26 - 6/21/26

Online "Virtual" Exhibition Dates: 7/01/26 - 8/31/26

Description: The Old Town Arts & Craft Guild, Inc., a 78 year old gallery located on the east end of Long Island, NY announces our eighth Annual Juried Art Competition, Virtual Exhibition and Online Sale, "THE BEAUTY OF IT"; juried by Esther Marie Caponigro, artist and professor of studio art.

Entries and awards:  Entries accepted in 3 categories: Fine Art, Photography & Mixed Media (Crafts). Awards made in each category: First place $150, Second Place $100, Third place $75. 

Online Virtual Exhibition and Sale: This competition will be conducted online. Winner's and accepted entries' works will be exhibited virtually and offered for sale (if desired) online at the Old Town Arts & Crafts Guild, Inc. website/online store at https://oldtownartsguild.org from 7/01/26 - 8/31/26. They will also be featured on Facebook and in our newsletter with over 1,400 recipients. The competition is held virtually, accepted entries need not to be send to the Guild. It is the responsibility of the artist to ship to the purchaser any items sold through our online store. Payment for sales will be collected by the Guild and reimbursed to the artist after the exhibit.

Goal: Our goal is to both encourage and challenge artists locally and nationwide to strive for artistic excellence. The juror will consider all interpretations of "THE BEAUTY OF IT". Artists working in all media are encouraged to apply. This is our EIGHTH annual event, a prestigious and highly respected exhibit.

Juror: Esther Marie Caponigro is a national and internationally recognized artist native to Long Island. She earned degrees in art from both SUNY Stony Brook and LIU C.W. Post. 

As a contemporary artist, she is known for her expressive use of color, texture, and emotion. She is particularly noted for her mastery of plein air painting, dynamic collaborations with fellow artists, and contributions to abstract art.

In addition to her studio practice, Esther Marie has devoted significant time to arts education including serving for over nine years as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Suffolk County Community College.

Entry procedure: Artwork has no size limit. Each entry must be submitted in an image using file type JPEG or JPG only.

  • Select correct category: Fine Art, Photography or Mixed Media.
  • Image File Dimensions: Minimum 1,200 pixels, recommended 1920 pixels or larger on longest edge.
  • Image File Size: Under 5 MB.
  • Include Sale Price or indicate NFS (not for sale).
  • Include Title of artwork
  • Include a brief artist statement (50-100 words, maximum)

Sales:  Work should be marked “NFS” if not for sale. Items sold through the Guild's website is the responsibility of the artist to be shipped to the purchaser. The Old Town Arts & Crafts Guild, Inc. retains a 30% commission on works sold and the Artist will be sent, by mail, a check for the remaining 70% within 30 days of the close of the exhibit.

About us: The Old Town Arts & Crafts Guild, Inc. is the oldest gallery on the North Fork of Long Island, New York. Founded in 1948, the Guild is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of artists and crafts people whose mission is to inspire interest and maximum participation by the community in the visual, literary, and performing arts. The Guild is committed to offering innovative, diversified exhibits and programs that inspire, educate and stimulate creativity. Your application fee supports our programming and is considered a much-needed and appreciated donation to our organization.

The artist understands that works accepted in the exhibition may be used by the Old Town Arts & Crafts Guild, Inc. for advertising and publicity during the entire run of the exhibition.

Application Requirements

Artists are required to submit a digital file (under 5 MB) of their Fine Art, Photography or Mixed Media, complete entry application, and submit applicable fee(s).

Artist must be 18 years of age and reside in the United States. All work must be the original work by the submitting artist.
