Call Description
Whether one is a European model who migrates to the US to pursue her ambition and ultimately becomes First Lady of the country, or an Iraqi Jew exiled over his religion, or a Chilean youngster who escapes the violence of a cruel dictatorship, each person immigrating to this country has their own story and adds to the fabric of diversity in our union. Leaving one’s homeland and giving up one’s cultural and family ties to become a stranger in a strange land is daunting and not for the weak-hearted. This exhibition seeks to depict the immigrant experience here in the US and to celebrate our brothers, sisters, and neighbors who made this country their home. As Olivia Dean reminded us recently “We're nothing without each other.”
Schelfhaudt Gallery at University of Bridgeport is seeking art by or about immigrants to our country and work that depicts the immigrant experience in the US for a new exhibit: Immigrant Song: A hymn to immigrants in our country.
