Call Description
The Museum of Art - DeLand proudly presents the National Juried Exhibition FORM + SPACE 2026. This exhibition recognizes an expansive field of contemporary sculpture and the diverse practices of artists today who transform malleable materials into three dimensional artworks. Artists working in traditional and non-traditional sculptural materials are encouraged to apply. The exhibition will be on display at the Museum of Art - DeLand from October 31st, 2026 – January 10th, 2027, in DeLand, FL with an opening reception on October 30th.
The exhibition will be curated by the Museum of Art – DeLand staff along with Wade MacDonald, our guest juror. MacDonald is an Assistant Professor at the University of Alabama. He has exhibited nationally and internationally and has completed artist residencies at the Banff Centre, Anderson Ranch Art Center, Red Lodge Clay Center, Zentrum für Keramik, and Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts.
Application Requirements
This exhibition recognizes an expansive field of contemporary sculpture and the diverse practices of artists today who transform malleable materials into three dimensional artworks. Artists working in traditional and non-traditional sculptural materials including digital mediums are encouraged to apply.
The Museum of Art – DeLand is committed to supporting artists and reducing barriers to participation. To help offset transportation and shipping expenses, artists will receive a $100 stipend for each selected work.
Submission Guidelines:
Submission cost is $35 which includes up to three artworks. Artists may submit up to three separate applications, with one artwork per application. The first application is $35; the second and third are free. If the submission fee presents a barrier, please contact Museum staff.
For each artwork, applicants can submit up to three images. One video file may be submitted in place of a photo. Images should be high quality, with a minimum of 1920 pixels on the longest side.
Artwork Guidelines:
All work must be delivered ready for installation. Wall hanging works are restricted to a weight limit of no more than 30 pounds per hanging component. If there are multiple hanging components, each one must be less than 30 pounds. These works must be delivered “ready to hang” with solid attachment points. If any special hardware is required to hang or install the work, it must be provided along with clear instructions where needed. Works that need to be hung from the ceiling are limited to 15 pounds. Artists are responsible for the installation of works that have complex installation requirements and/ or setup. In these instances, the artist must make an appointment with museum staff to install their own work. All Artists are strongly encouraged to include installation instructions when shipping selected work.
There is no size limit to works but please note the ceiling height of the gallery is 10 feet. The exhibition space is on the second floor of the building so all components of works must be able to go up stairs or fit into an elevator. The elevator dimensions are 80in x 49in x 73in. The elevator door opening is 80in x 40in. If a work or a component of a work is not able to utilize the elevator due to size, the work or individual component must not weigh over 50 pounds. The Museum of Art – DeLand reserves the right to exclude any entry that does not adhere to guidelines or is not able to be installed.
Works in any media may be submitted including digital works, but artists are responsible for supplying all technology needed for digital works. All artwork must be original and produced within the last three years.
Shipping Guidelines:
Artwork will be insured while on site at the Museum of Art – DeLand. Artists are responsible for prepaying all shipping costs and for insuring the work during shipping. Any artwork that is shipped must be shipped from within the United States. All return shipping is likewise only possible within the United States. The Museum of Art – DeLand is not responsible for damaged or lost work that occurs during shipping. Shipped artwork must also include a prepaid return label and must be shipped via FedEx or UPS. If alternative shipping arrangements are needed, please make arrangements with museum staff.
Shipped artwork must arrive between October 12th-16th. Accepted artwork may also be hand delivered by appointment. Artists who prefer to install their own work can make an appointment with museum staff to install work during business hours and all artwork must be installed by October 28th. All other work must be shipped within the timeframe outlined and no artwork may be withdrawn from the exhibition before January 10th. Work may be picked up by appointment between January 11th - 20th, 2027, and remaining work will be shipped by the first week of February. Work that is unclaimed or does not include a return shipping label will be discarded at the end of February.
Prizes:
First Place - $2,000 and an exhibition in one of the museum's galleries in 2028 or 2029.
Four juror awards - $500 each
Additional awards will be presented as available. To receive monetary awards over $600, winners must fill out and submit an IRS form W-9. Artists are solely responsible for any taxes due to local, state, and federal governments. Awards will be paid to the winners within 30 days following the close of the exhibition.

Acceptance notifications will be sent out at the end of August.
This exhibition will be widely publicized and the Museum of Art – DeLand reserves the right to use images of accepted work for the purpose of publicity and publication. An exhibition catalog including all of the works will be mailed to each of the selected artists after the exhibition.
All inquiries for purchase will be directed to the artist and the artist is responsible for handling any purchase transactions as well as delivery to the buyer of the work after the closing of the exhibition.

Open to all artists 18+. All artwork must be original and created in the last 3 years. Work must be shipped within the United States.
