Call Description

Theme - We are looking for images that reflect “What’s Going On” for you. The submitted work should be about what is happening in your inner world or the one outside of yourself that includes a broader view of humankind and/or our environment.

In the words of Marvin Gaye, singer/songwriter, 1939-1984- "We don't need to escalate | You see, war is not the answer | For only love can conquer hate | You know we've got to find a way | To bring some lovin' here today | Come on talk to me | So you can see | What's going on (What's going on)"

Juror - Our Juror, Jan Tichy, is a professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the departments of Photography and Art & Technology/Sound Practices. Besides being an educator and curator, Tichy is a contemporary artist working at the intersection of video, sculpture, architecture and photography. Several of his large public projects, like Project Cabrini Green in Chicago, A Sound Mural for Flint in Michigan and Remote Pyramids in Dallas, function as platforms for young people to share their experiences

His works are included in collections of MoMA in New York and Israel Museum in Jerusalem. Tichy has had solo exhibitions at the MCA Chicago; Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art; Museum of Contemporary Photography Chicago; Santa Barbara Museum of Art, among others. Most recently he co-curated the exhibition Lucia Moholy–Exposures at Kunsthalle Prague and Fotostiftung Schweiz.
