Call Description

For our Small Wonders exhibition, we invite you to explore the power of compact creativity and the impact of small-scale art. Submitted work should reflect the artist's ability to convey big ideas in limited dimensions—emotions, stories, and artistic visions condensed into intimate formats. What can be expressed within the constraints of size? How does working small change your artistic approach or message?

All submitted work must not exceed 12 inches in any direction. We encourage emerging and established artists within the NW Oregon and SW Washington areas to apply.

The exhibit will be held in our South Gallery (smaller gallery) and will be opening on First Thursday, June 4th, 2026, 5 - 8 pm and close on Saturday, June 27th at 4 pm. Gallery 114 is open Thursday-Sunday, 12 - 5pm. Accepted artwork will  also be accessible to view on our website – www.gallery114.com

At Gallery 114, you can "expect the unexpected" because we are artist-owned, artist-run, and artists unleashed. We encourage our members to take risks and explore new and different creative efforts with underlying quality and integrity.

Application Requirements
A complete application will have the following:

Up to 6 (Six) images of artworks to be considered (no video)

Works must be no larger than 12” in any dimension (including frames).  Any works that exceed this size will not be accepted at delivery

All work must be for sale

Media information for each work (title, media, dimensions, price)

Paid entry fee of $35 for three submissions, $5 per additional submission (maximum of 6 total)

A brief description about how your work reflects the theme

Criteria & Judging: Artwork will be judged on conceptual and aesthetic quality, as well as overall artistic merit. The jurors will not comment on any applications. All entries must be of original design and personal execution.

Media: All 2 and 3 dimensional media are welcome. All works must be original. Art must be ready to hang with attached hanging hardware.

Eligibility: Any artists within the NW Oregon and SW Washington area, if you can deliver and pick up in person you can apply. Artists 18 years or older are eligible to apply. All artwork MUST be for sale and must be hand delivered.

Size: All submitted work must not exceed 12 inches in any direction. This measurement includes frames. Larger works will NOT be accepted at delivery.

Delivery: All work must be HAND DELIVERED and PICKED UP - NO WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED IF SENT VIA MAILING SERVICES.

Installation ready: Each accepted entry must be installation ready. If you have any special hanging hardware it must come with written installation instructions. Please have your name and artwork title prominent on the back of the piece.

Photography: Gallery 114 may photograph the work for reproduction on the gallery website, press releases and on social media. Gallery 114 may use your submitted photo for  reproduction on the gallery website, press releases and on social media. 

Sales: Work must be for sale. All sales will be handled through Gallery 114. A 40% commission will be charged. All pieces must remain up for the duration of the exhibit. 

Gallery 114 will send checks to the artist for sales of their work within 30 days of the end of the exhibit.

How to Enter: All materials, including entry fees and images, must be submitted in digital format through CaFE at callforentry.org. 

Photographs of work: Name each photo file with the first initial of first name/last name/title/medium/price.jpg or .png, re: DErickson-LovingYou-oiloncanvas-350.jpg. 

Photos need to be at least 200 dpi and at least 1200 px on the largest side

Call Calendar - Important Dates

Call ends: April 12th, 2026

Notification to artists: By April 20th, 2026

Exhibit: June 4th - 27th, 2026

Opening Reception:  June 4th, First Thursday, from 5 - 8pm

Artist Meet and Greet: June 20th, from 2 - 4pm

ARTWORK MUST BE HAND DELIVERED AND PICKED UP! NO MAILED PACKAGES WILL BE ACCEPTED!

Delivery of art: Saturday May 30th, 4 - 6 pm and Sunday May 31st, 10:00am - noon
Artists pick up work: Saturday June 27th, 4 - 6 pm and Sunday June 28th, 10am - noon

Artists MUST follow the drop off and pick up schedule! 

You may designate a person to drop off and/or pick up but you must let us know (and provide contact info for the person, including name, phone number, and email). Please verify that we can accommodate you by contacting us via email: contactgallery114pdx@gmail.com
