Call Description

The Village Theatre and Art Gallery is hosting it’s 16th annual juried exhibition. The theme is Art in the Dark, and submissions will open on June 1, 2026 and close on July 17, 2026. There is a $30 fee for entry. 

The Town invites artists to submit original miniature artworks. Various mediums will be accepted, such as paintings, drawings and sculptures, encouraging endless creativity in this captivating genre.

This exhibition will be up and on view from October 17 - December 18, 2026 with an opening reception on October 17. If accepted into the exhibition, artists will be notified by July 24, and artwork will need to arrive October 7-9, 2026.

DETAILS: Art in the Dark is an exhibition in the Village Theatre Art Gallery that will showcase art that illuminates, whether it be neon, lighted, black light, or in 2D or 3D designs. The gallery will be divided into two areas, one with black-lighted pieces only, and another space for illuminated work. 

FOR INDOOR PIECES:

• Each design will illuminate/glow/light up in some way using glow in the dark paint, neon, or lights (LED lights ONLY).
• Art may be 2D or 3D (wall art or free-standing sculptures) and be installed on a wall or displayed on a pedestal.
• The artists will be responsible for the transportation of the art from their studio to and from the Village Theatre Art Gallery.

FOR OUTDOOR PIECES:    

• Will illuminate in 2D designs only – Black light is ok.
• Size of mural including frame will need to be 6.5 wide x 4 tall (no larger or no smaller).
• Each completed design will weigh no more than 150 lbs.
• Each mural will illuminate/glow in some way using LED lights ONLY.
• Art will be installed outdoors onto non-covered metal walls using special magnets.
• Art must be able to withstand the effects of inclement weather.
• Pieces may be lit with battery or solar power, or electric plug-in (LED light ONLY).
• Each design will illuminate/glow/light up in some way using LED lights ONLY.

The artists will be responsible for the transportation of the art from their studio to and from the Village Theatre Art Gallery. 

All mediums accepted except for photographic work, computer generated work and artwork created by photographic, digital, laser, giclee or A.I. techniques.

Original artwork only. 

Application Requirements

• Artist may submit up to four (4) pieces of work for a fee of $30.
• Include artist full name, email, phone.
• For artist reference: The indoor gallery space is 1000 square feet. The outdoor space consists of a series of metal panels to which the art will be attached/installed onto.

Eligibility Criteria

• Fees must be paid at the time of submission.
• Applicants must be of 18 years of age.
