Pack your bags and leave reality at the door—Tropical Escapism is a celebration of island daydreams and mysterious jungle nights. We’re seeking lowbrow-inspired artwork that captures the spirit of Tiki culture, velvet paintings, swaying hula dancers, voodoo mysticism, and all things lush, strange, and tropical. From neon sunsets and carved idols to enchanted jungles and kitschy paradise scenes, we want art that transports viewers to a wild, vibrant escape. Paintings, sculpture, illustration, and mixed media are welcome—bring the heat, the weird, and the island magic.

Memento Mori Gallery & Tattoo is a lowbrow/outsider contemporary art gallery located in the 40West Arts District, part of the art walk circuit, and in the same shopping center as Casa Bonita. We get good foot traffic on First Fridays.

Application Requirements

2D & 3D artwork. $25 entry fee per piece, can submit up to 2 pieces. Artwork must be for sale, with 40% of sale going to gallery. Piece must be ready to hang or display physically (will not display digital artwork unless it is printed and framed/mounted properly). "Ready to Hang" means hanging hardware is already attached - plain canvas without hanging wire is not "ready to hang". We will reject anything not ready to hang at drop off. Hanging wire preferred, no adhesive mounts, and must be able to hang from a hook or nail. We will also not accept any photographic work that depicts another artist’s artwork without express permission from the artist to show and sell the photograph; this includes street art.

*Out-of-state artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery. Please do not submit unless you are prepared for this.
