As the 21st century unfolds, we find ourselves in rapidly shifting territory. Political, Economic, Social, Technological and Environmental changes are swift and unstable.
Many of the institutions, organizations and communities we have relied on to help us make sense of our world seem to be crumbling. Most of us are unsure of what is real.
Art reflects the emotions, concerns, and aspirations of a people. Through artistic expression, artists can communicate, provoke, and challenge injustices and give voice to insecurities and aspirations.
Please submit your visual responses and perspectives related to the unsettling and confusing zeitgeist we find ourselves living in.
All mediums except video are welcome.
There will be a zoomed Roundtable art discussion to celebrate the show on Thursday may 14 at 4:00 pm Pacific time open to all. The Juror plans to attend. A zoom link will be emailed to selected artists and available on OHCA Website.
At OHCA our online shows have a reputation for being well curated. We have a poet respond to the work. We honor the work with a downloadable PDF program and highlight each work on our instagram page during the run of the show. Our artists' talk is recorded and shared on our Vimeo page and with the arts community. (Check out prior talks here.) We publicize the show to our 4K mailing list and to the local media. Here is a link to our current online show. Past shows are archived and available as well!
Each artist may submit up to 3 individual pieces of artwork for consideration for this juried show. All media welcome except video. YES: photography, fiber, sculpture, digital etc. Diptychs and Triptychs are considered 1 piece of work. Diptychs and Triptychs must be submitted as one image.

FROM THE JUROR: Chester Arnold
My paintings are part of a visual dialogue running the length and breadth of human history. The search for excellence in this Art and Craft has led me to explore the natural world and the human events that inhabit it, constructing narratives that celebrate and question our presence in the world.
Although representational, I seek a way of painting that is richly traditional, yet radically and surprisingly new. I attempt to articulate more than the surfaces and dimensions of reality, summoning the wordless meanings and sensations that only visual art can.
