Call Description
The location of the exhibition is the Broadway corridor, a nine block span in downtown Cape Girardeau, Missouri. This area is home to locally owned businesses that bring flavor and matchless experiences. By hosting the Downtown Sculpture Exhibiton on Broadway, Old Town Cape hopes to increase interest in public art for our Historic Riverfront District, increase the number of arts related activities within the region, and provide an additional revitilzation strategy for downtown Cape Girardeau.
The kickoff event, occuring on June 27th, in Historic Ivers Square, will be the unveiling of the selected sculptures. The community will have the opportunity to not only meet the artists, but to also engage with other art forms. The event will feature plein air artists, working potters, live statues, wood carving, and other family friendly activities.
Our featured sculptures will remain on display for a full year in our Historic Riverfront District. They will be a prominent feature that will magnify the importance of public art in our outdoor community spaces.
