Call Description
This juried exhibition explores the visual and atmospheric qualities of summer through contemporary two-dimensional work. Rather than literal interpretations, we invite work that considers light, heat, duration, and the emotional or psychological textures of the season.
Submissions may engage the figure, landscape, interior space, or abstraction, but should reflect a strong command of material, clarity of intent, and a cohesive visual language. Work that suggests a sense of place, memory, or lived experience is especially encouraged.
The exhibition will be juried by David Holcombe, an artist and collector. Dr. Holcombe was born and raised in Northern California and attended UC Davis. Always encouraged by his artistic mother, Virginia Harvey, he took art classes at Davis, a hotbed of progressive California artists in the 70’s. He continued to paint during his medical training in Belgium and throughout 40 years of professional work in Central Louisiana. He and his wife have collected art from many living regional artists, much of which has been donated to the Alexandria Museum of Art. Being a juror represents a daunting responsibility, imposing painful choices on sensitive artists. He looks for artworks with some magical combination of artistic passion and technique.
Selected works will be presented in a curated exhibition and promoted across gallery platforms.
This is an exciting opportunity to present your art to a broad audience and engage with fellow artists and collectors. Prepare your entries and submit them by the deadline to ensure your chance of being part of this vibrant showcase.
We eagerly anticipate the unique perspectives and talents that will make up the "High Summer" exhibition. We hope to see your artwork featured in the NSULA Fine + Graphic Arts/Natchitoches Art Guild Juried Art Show.
