Remarque Print Workshop & Gallery invites printmakers and photographers from around the world to submit work for our exhibition, The Printmaker and the Photographic Image: Dissolving Media Boundaries to be held at Remarque Print Workshop & Gallery in Albuquerque, NM from June 19th – August 1st, 2026.

The Printmaker and the Photographic Image is a call to printmakers and photographers working in both traditions. We are looking for hand-printed imagery that weds together photographic elements with printmaking techniques. Any sort of photographic process (especially alternative techniques) combined with traditional printmaking is of interest to us; the final image should be a hand pulled print. Please, no solely digital output.  We are looking for images that explore the boundaries between photography and printmaking and that involve some form of hand-work. Successful images should display technical sophistication while conveying an emotional valence.

Our hope is to select images, working in both the photographic and print-making traditions, that will form a body of prints that capture the energy of the act of creation freed from the limitations of conventional printmaking or photographic conventions.

We are looking for prints that seamlessly merge the two traditions while presenting images that have a sense of sui generis ambiance. We hope to showcase the emerging print world that increasingly discards concern for categorical processes while making free use of techniques from all forms of print and image making. The gallery
Remarque Print Workshop, located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is one of the first completely non-toxic printmaking facilities in the country. Our award-winning studio offers access to printmaking equipment and year-round classes in a great range of techniques.

Our facility is housed in an historic turn of the century building with an airy classroom, spacious studio space and intriguing basement area. We have five fully equipped Takach presses, gallery space and we offer a full complement of classes in various print making techniques.

Entry deadline
Entries must be posted by midnight MDT (GMT-6) on May 10, 2026.

Artwork submissions

• Each artist should submit 3 images for jurying.
• Maximum Paper size: 16 x 20” or 20 x 16”
• Accepted works should be shipped unframed with return postage included

Presentation

All selected works will be archival ly matted and framed and displayed in the Remarque Gallery. We will accept framed pieces, but it is the artist’s responsibility to package the piece adequately for shipping and return shipping. Artists are responsible for all shipping costs, please provide a pre-paid shipping label for the return of your piece.

Entry fee
Non-refundable $35 USD, payable online at: https://www.callforentry.org/
This fee covers administration, publicity and exhibition costs.

How to submit entries for jurying

Entries must be submitted via CAFE https://www.callforentry.org/ - all entries must be “For Sale.”

Commission on sales
Remarque will retain 50% of the retail price and the artist will receive 50% of the retail price.

Payment to the artist
Within thirty (30) days of the end of the exhibition, it shall be the responsibility of Remarque to make payment via check or PayPal.

Use rights
By submitting for jurying, artists whose submissions are chosen for the exhibition grant Remarque the right to use their images for the purpose of marketing the exhibition. Artists permit the use of their image(s) as stated without further contact or compensation. Artist’s recognition is provided with use.

Schedule

• Artists will be contacted via CAFE with results of jury by May 19, 2026
• Accepted Works: Must arrive at Remarque no later than June 4, 2026
• Accepted works should be shipped unframed, signed with artist’s name, title, year and numbering. No substitutions for accepted artworks. If you wish to ship a framed piece contact us first so we can discuss the details of the framing.
• When you ship your piece, please send us an email with the tracking number so we know to be looking for it.

Artists are responsible for shipping and insurance costs to and from Remarque. International work should be shipped by postal service:  please allow 1-2 weeks for shipping. All international artists must write ‘Printed Matter – No Commercial Value’ on the package. All received work will be handled with maximum care and will be insured for wholesale value while on gallery premises. Please provide a pre-paid shipping label for the return of your piece.

Application Requirements

Submission of 3 images to the CAFE website and payment of 35.00 entry fee.
