Call Description

Textile Art Gallery NYC invites artists working in fiber and textile-based practices to submit work for an upcoming exhibition, juried by artist & curator Petra Fallaux, celebrating the versatility, innovation, and expressive potential of these mediums. This call is open to artists exploring traditional and contemporary approaches, including but not limited to weaving, embroidery, quilting, felting, tapestry, soft sculpture, mixed media, and experimental textile processes.

The gallery is particularly interested in work that pushes the boundaries of fiber art, engages with cultural narratives, or examines materiality, sustainability, identity, and storytelling through textile forms. Both emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply.

Selected works will be featured in a curated exhibition aimed at highlighting the depth and diversity of fiber and textile art today. Artists will have the opportunity to share their work with a broader audience in the Chelsea Arts District and participate in programming related to the exhibition.

Application Requirements

HANGING REQUIREMENTS - All work must be ready to hang or be displayed.

Images: Artists may enter up to 2 pieces. Please submit one full image and one detail image (jpg) for each entry.  Images should be minimum 1200 pixels & up to 5mB each.

Textile works must have a secure hanging mechanism attached to the back of the work. Quilts must have sleeves and slats with eye hooks (screw eyes) included. Three dimensional works must include all that is needed for installation and presentation. Work not following these guidelines will be released. The gallery reserves the right to release any work that contains debris or odor.

SALES - Textile Art Gallery NYC will take a 20% commission on sales. Work that is not for sale must be labeled NFS.

DELIVERY AND PICK UP - Shipped work must arrive in a reusable container and must include a prepaid return label from UPS or FEDEX. Note: No USPS returns. DO NOT send stamps, cash or credit card info for return . LATE ARRIVING WORK will be released.  Work not picked up after one month will be handled at the discretion of the gallery.

LIABILITY - All possible care will be taken to guarantee the safety of the work. Textile Art Gallery NYC’s insurance will cover work ONLY while the work is in the gallery. Artists are responsible for insuring work in transit; the gallery will not bear liability for loss or damage while in transit to and from the gallery. Transit insurance is the artist’s responsibility and is encouraged.
 

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be 18+ and artwork must be original works made by the artist.
