Call Description

Umpqua Valley Arts (UVA) invites artists who use printmaking techniques as part of their art practice to submit to Printmaking NOW! (10 years Later). This is a curated and juried exhibition highlighting contemporary printmakers.

Printmaking is a broad category of art that describes multiple different modes of making and techniques, including (but not limited to) relief printing (woodcuts), intaglio printing (engraving/etching), planographic printing (lithography), and stenciling (screenprinting). For centuries, examples of printmaking techniques have been found throughout history, making it one of the oldest forms of visual art and making reproductions. In 2017, UVA hosted a national call inviting artists to submit artwork celebrating the diverse artistic practices found in printmaking. Now, 10 years later in 2027, we wish to host this exhibition about printmaking again with Printmaking NOW! (10 years later).

For this exhibition, UVA invites local, regional, and national artists to submit artworks that use printmaking methods including (but not limited to) woodcuts, linocuts, screen printing, lithography, intaglio, and more. There will be no specific theme to this exhibit other than a focus on printmaking techniques and artists who explore ideas and various modes of printmaking. The call is open to artworks exploring the limits of printmaking techniques.

Artworks for this exhibition will be chosen by a curator who resides/works in the Pacific Northwest whom UVA invites to lend their eye and their voice in the broader Pacific Northwest art scene to the exhibition. More information on the juror will be announced soon.
