In June, Gallery 114 is hosting a exhibit for one of the great traditions in art - commentary on politics and their impact. This show is an opportunity to submit art relating to the political themes about which you feel passionate. Think gender representation, race and power, the environment, climate change, education - the upcoming elections..to just name a few ideas. These suggestions are meant as examples only - the goal is not to direct your responses, but to invite social or political critique in an open visual forum.
With an innovative artist spirit, the juried exhibit " Its Political-Political Art in a Political Season" is seeking amateur and professional artists to submit work for this exhibit. Beliefs, feelings and thoughts are invited to be shared in this visual creative opportunity.
Gallery 114 was founded in 1990 as an artists' collective. Its members have consistently produced a diversity of work including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, video and installation. It is the only established gallery in Portland that has persisted in encouraging and allowing its members absolute artistic freedom.
