2015 JUROR
Foothills Art Center (FAC) selected nationally recognized artist, Mark E. Mehaffey, as the juror for the 2015 Rocky Mountain National Watermedia exhibition. He is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the American Watercolor Society Dolphin Fellow, Transparent Watercolor Society of America Signature Life Member-Master Status, Watercolor West, and Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Society.
Mr. Mehaffey has won major awards in juried exhibitions across the country including the Beverly Green Memorial Purchase Award from the National Watercolor Society, the Silver Medal of Honor and the Arches Paper Company Award from American Watercolor Society. His work has appeared in many publications and is included in corporate, public and private collections including Blue Cross Blue Shield, The Arches Paper Company and the permanent collections of transparent watercolors at the Neville Public Museum, Green Bay, Wisconsin and the Muskegon Museum of Art, Muskegon, Michigan.

DESCRIPTION
The Rocky Mountain National Watermedia (RMNW) exhibition, in its 42nd year, is presented by FAC in Golden, Colorado. RMNW attracts entrants and jurors from throughout the United States, and is regarded as one of the top watermedia exhibitions in the country.
Located in historic downtown Golden, FAC leads and inspires the community through art, education, and cultural excellence. A nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, FAC is committed to delivering engaging exhibitions and diverse educational programs for adults and children. Founded in 1968 and an official member of the United States National Registry of Historic Buildings, the main gallery is housed in an 1872 Gothic style church and an 1892 Queen Anne style manse, set behind a sculpture garden designed by Saarinen Landscape Architecture.

ELIGIBILITY
  • Open to all artists residing in the United States.
  • Paintings must be an aqueous medium on paper, illustration board or Yupo paper. Canvas is not permitted, nor are computer‐generated works or Giclee prints. All collage materials must be painted by the artist.
  • All entries must be one‐of‐a‐kind.
  • Artworks must have been painted in the last two years, and may not have been shown previously in any exhibition at FAC.
  • Minimum image size is 80 square inches (multiply length x width). There is no maximum size limitation.
  • Your source material must be your own design or made from your own photograph.
  • If accepted, the painting shipped must be the same as the image submitted. 
DELIVERY AND RETURN OF ACCEPTED WORK
  • All shipped artwork will be charged a $25 handling fee.
  • Detailed instructions will be sent with notification of acceptance.
  • All artists shipping work must provide a pre‐paid return-shipping label. Unsold work will not be returned without a prepaid return-shipping label.
  • FAC is not responsible for damage or loss during transport.
  • FAC provides insurance for artworks while on premises. 
CATALOG
FAC produces a beautiful full color catalog featuring the artwork in the exhibition and indicating the award winners. All artists who apply will receive one complimentary catalog. Additional copies of the catalog may be purchased for $10, plus tax and shipping.
AWARDS
In 2014, FAC awarded over $8,000 in cash and merchandise to exhibition artists.
SALES
All paintings must be available for sale during the exhibition. Please note that FAC retains a 40% commission on all art sales. Prices may not be changed after submission. Payment for sold artwork will be issued 30 days after the close of the exhibition. 
AGREEMENT
Submission to this juried exhibition constitutes an agreement on the part of the entrant to the conditions set forth in this prospectus. Foothills Art Center reserves the right to final curatorial, educational, installation and marketing decisions.
HOW TO ENTER
  1. CaFE requires that all images conform to a specific format. FAC encourages all entrants to review the instructions and tutorials for formatting images and entering before beginning the actual entry process. The following are tools available to help format digital entries:

  3. Submit your entry via CaFE no later than 11:59:59pm on May 25, 2015
  4. Images submitted may be used for publicity and/or educational purposes.
