To assist the Artist in successfully completing their wilderness residency, it is agreed that WW will provide the following resources: 1. A $1500 stipend, of which $500 will be paid upon the Artist’s arrival for the wilderness residency, and $1,000 will be paid after the resulting artwork and other reproducible images are safely delivered. 2. Housing and a hiking guide, as needed during the residency. 3. An orientation kit and appropriate maps of the areas selected for exploration. 4. Out of state travel reimbursement. Air travel to/from Aspen, up to $1,000. If needed, a rental car/4WD lease and one tank of gas will also be reimbursed. 5. In state travel reimbursement. Private automobile travel, up to $400, including gasoline and general wear and tear at a rate of $.55 per mile, to/from Carbondale. 6. Shipping charges for the safe delivery of artwork, generally limited to $250. It is further agreed that the Artist will provide the following: 1. Art materials, equipment and supplies. The artist is responsible for bringing his or her own art materials, equipment and supplies to be used during the residency. They may be shipped ahead to the WW main office at the artists’ expense. Painting and drawing supplies are generally available in valley art stores, but check with the program director in advance. 2. Good health and endurance. The artist must be able to walk five miles over uneven terrain at high altitude without physical assistance and in adequate health to be fully self-reliant during their residency. 3. Meals. Artists must provide for their own meals during their residency. Upon arrival, they will be directed to Whole Foods or City Market for groceries, as well as given recommendations to local restaurants. 4. Auto Insurance. The Artist must maintain insurance coverage that meets or exceeds the Colorado State minimum standards for any personally owned vehicle driven for purposes of the residency. In the event the Artist rents a car, he/she agrees to purchase both collision and liability, unless already covered by the Artist’s personal auto insurance or credit card, but in any event the Artist will be solely responsible for, and WW will have no liability for, any insurance deductible or costs associated with damage to the vehicle or loss of or damage to other property, including personal property, arising from a claim against the vehicle or driver, as well as any resulting medical bills to any party covered or not covered by the insurance. 5. Proof of refundable expenses. Receipts for airline flights, rental car leases including insurance coverage, gasoline, and mileage used for driving to/from Carbondale in a personally owned vehicle. 6. Adherence to all United States Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management regulations. WW staff can help artists understand pertinent regulations. 7. Final artwork. The Artist will deliver the following artwork within 90 days of their wilderness residency: One original piece valued at $1500 or higher, that is inspired by the residency experience, plus five (5) high quality digital images (at least 1200x1600 pixels) of other artworks resulting from the residency and their reproduction rights for use as posters, notecards, calendars and other fundraising tools to promote WW’s goals and to perpetuate the Artist in Wilderness program. 8. Time shall be of the essence regarding the Artist’s performance of this agreement. Liability Waiver and Release Clause I realize that participating in the wilderness residency may involve all manner of unforeseen and inherent risks and hazards. I am aware of the risks and hazards inherent in participating and do hereby assume sole responsibility for all such risks. I hereby further release and agree to indemnify and hold harmless WW, the U.S. Forest Service, project participants, and anyone else involved with this project and their respective agents, representatives, officers, employees, successors, assigns and insurers, hereinafter referred to collectively as "the Releasees", from any and all liability, claims, demands or actions or causes of action whatsoever, arising out of damage, loss or injury to my person or property, whether anticipated or unanticipated, while participating in any of the activities contemplated by this agreement, whether such damage, loss, or injury results from the negligence of the Releasees, their respective agents, officers, employees, successors, assigns and insurers or from some other cause. This release and agreement shall be binding upon me, my heirs, successors, assigns, administrators and executors. Promotional Consent And Release Clause By signing this release, I am giving permission to Wilderness Workshop, its employees, agents or successors to use my name and likeness, including photographs and video footage taken of me, and statements made by me, in order to promote the programs and conservation-based mission of WW.   This permission is for use anywhere in the world and on the Internet, and for an unlimited period of time. I understand and agree that I will not be compensated for consenting to this use of my name and likeness and statements. I understand and agree that I will not be given a chance to inspect or approve the promotional text that may use my name or likeness, quotations by me, or any photograph(s) or video footage of me used to promote WW. I have not given any person or entity the exclusive right to use my name, likeness, or photograph, so I am free to sign this release.
