nnThe Anacortes Arts Festival is looking ahead to the 3rd annual Art in Bloom fine art exhibition April 15 - 23, 2016.  It is part of the Skaigit Valley Tulip Festival that attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors during the month of April.   Art in Bloom will feature 20 - 25 regional artists at the historic Depot Arts Center in Anacortes, Washington.  It is a juried show that includes both 2D and 3D work, without a theme.
nn
nnThe Festival Curatorial Team will jury this exhibit.  It includes arts professionals and an internationally recognized artist.  Each selected artist will show 2 – 5 pieces.  Work is for sale – the Festival retains a 50% commission  (40% for bronze sculpture).   The Festival will offer $1,000 in awards including a $500 Peoples Choice, and $500 Best of Show.   Following are the important exhibition dates to note:
nn
nn•    Sunday, April 10 – Art intake, noon – 2pm (alternate intake at Festival office on Thursday April 7)
nn•    Friday, April 15 – Opening Event
nn•    April 16 – 23 – show open daily, 11am – 4pm
nn•    April 24 – art pick-up,  noon – 2pm
nn
nnAs a sponsor and Special Event of the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, this show will be featured in the official Tulip Festival brochure and website, and heavily marketed.    The exhibition will also be showcased at a Festival event, An Evening of Color, on April 16, targeted to seasoned and new collectors, and benefiting k-12 arts education.  Along with other related events (including a Color Run), we are putting Anacortes on the map as the arts destination during this busy time of year.
nn
nnGuidelines:  Application is open to both 2D (painting, photography) and 3D work (sculpture, ceramic, glass, jewelry, fiber arts).  There is no theme for this show (it does not have to relate to the title name,  Art in Bloom)
nn•    All selected 2D artwork must be original work – no giclee prints allowed.
nn•    All work must be ready for display upon arrival.  Wall-mounted pieces must have adequate hangers and/or wire. Three-dimensional work needs adequate installation instruction if it requires more than a standard pedestal.
nn•    Artwork mailed to the office must arrive before April 7, 2016. Mailed work must include a prepaid return label.    Work must be available from April 10 through April 24. All accepted and hung work must be for sale. The Anacortes Arts Festival will handle sales and retain a 50% commission (40% for bronze sculpture). Artists will receive payment within two weeks after the event for any work sold at the show.
nn•    Festival insurance will cover up to $2,500 per piece while on exhibition - any additional insurance must be covered by the individual artist.
nn•    Artwork will be handled by trained art docents while in AAF possession.
