The Exhibition of Photography has a two- tier judging system

The first round is preliminary judging of digital images uploaded online.

The second round consists of images that have advanced from Tier 1 judging. Judges evaluate printed and mounted images that are delivered to the Fairgrounds. Advancement of images from first round does not guarantee that a print will hang in the show; images must meet fair rules and judges’ standards for print quality presentation.

How do I enter?

Go to callforentry.org (CaFÉ) and make a new account. Upload your work: .jpeg .jpg only, 72 ppi/dpi, no smaller than 1920px on the longest side, no bigger than 5mb. Then find our contest under Call Listings, photography, local, San Bernardino CA and submit your photos. Judging criteria can also be found on the CaFÉ website. What’s the judging procedure?

The Exhibition of Photography is a two Tiered juried show. Tier 1 judges determine, online, which images will be advanced to Tier 2 onsite judging. You will be notified by e-mail if your image has been selected for Tier 2 judging, and it will include an entry tag to print out and place on the back of your mounted board, at top center. Each image will be viewed on its own merits by photographic professionals. Advancement of images to Tier 2 does not guarantee that a print will be in the show. The decisions of the judges are final. Judging include visual impact, composition, technical quality, creativity, and presentation.

What are the Presentation requirements?

Detailed information about the final presentation specifications will be sent with your Tier 2 notification e-mail. Entries must be in good taste and suitable for family viewing as determined by Fair management. Processing, printing, mounting and optional matting may be done commercially. IMPORTANT: No watermarks or names are allowed on digital entries. Names of the entrants are not allowed in photo titles, in the description fields of the online entry process, or on the fronts of prints, mount or mat boards.

When do I deliver my entries?

Entries that advance to Tier 2 judging must be printed, mounted and delivered ready to hang by Friday, April 21, to the National Orange Show Administration Building, Gate 1. If hand delivering entries, it must be between the hours of 8 am - 5 pm Monday-Friday.

Entrants must bring the same images submitted online to the Fairgrounds on or before April 21, with an entry tag on the back of each print. Substitutions will not be accepted and changes in prices or titles cannot be made.

Mail-in entries must include return postage pre-paid. Mounted photos must arrive at the NOS Administration building by April 21. Mail-in entries, to be returned, must have enough postage to cover the return. Images with insufficient postage will not be returned.
