The Fifth National Juried Hilton Head Fine Art Craft Guild exhibition, seeks 2D and 3D fine art craft entries that encompass exemplary creativity, experimentation and imagination, showcasing what can be accomplished with few restrictions. Up to 90 works will be chosen by an esteemed judge based upon artistic excellence, innovation and originality.  This is a juried Gallery show in a community that loves art and buys art. Over $2,500 in cash prizes will be awarded by Judge J. Ben Whiteside who has been in the art business since the early 1990s. Ben, along with his business partner Jack Morris, founded Morris & Whiteside Galleries in 2000. In addition, he has been active in presenting fine art auctions in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and South Carolina for over twenty years. Ben is a member of the Public Art Committee of the Community Foundation of the Low Country as well as a licensed auctioneer. Today Ben and his wife Lyn, own and operate The Red Piano Art Gallery which was founded on Hilton Head in 1969. This nationally recognized gallery is South Carolina’s oldest professional gallery of fine art. It is an American fine art firm specializing in representational drawings, paintings and sculpture by the nation’s leading artists.

This exhibition will be free and open to the public from December 6, 2016 through December 31, 2016 at Art League of Hilton Head's Gallery located inside Arts Center of Coastal Carolina on Hilton Head Island, SC.  An opening reception and awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, December 8th from 5-7pm.  This exhibition will be in place during the entire run of the professional performance of "White Christmas" on the stage of Arts Center of Coastal Carolina.  The Gallery is located inside the Arts Center and in addition to our regular visitors will host an additional 100 to 200 theatre goers each evening.

Art League of Hilton Head is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization built on a membership of talented artists, art students and arts supporters that work together to advance the mission to support and promote visual arts through exhibition, education and partnerships.  Deadline for applications is November 1, 2016.

Eligibility: The 2016 Craft Hilton Head exhibition is open to all artists over 18 years of age, submitting entries of 2D and 3D fine art crafts in sculpture, basketry, glass, fiber sculpture and wall hangings (including paper,) metal works, works in clay, handmade artist books, jewelry, weaving, wood and assemblage.

Work must have been completed within the last two years.

Works should not exceed 7’ x 3’ x 3’ (including pedestal) or weigh more than 50 pounds. Free standing sculptures should need no special mounting.  The only exceptions to these specifications can be made when the work is hand delivered, installed and de-installed by the artist on the appropriate dates.   We are unable to accept work that is suspended from the ceiling.

A non-refundable fee of $40 enables each artist to enter up to 3 applications of 1 work each and submit 1 image per application/work.

Deadline for applications is November 1, 2016.

Notification date for acceptances is November 15, 2016.

Installation date is December 5, 2016.

Closing Date is December 31, 2016.

All shipped art work must arrive at UPS by Friday December 2, 2016.

All art work dropped off in person must be on Monday December 5, 2016 between 10AM and 12 PM.
