In Conjunction with Cultural Pittsfield’s 10 x 10 Upstreet Arts Festival



This is an open call for photography submissions to 10 SPOT: PHOTOGRAPHY. Work chosen for this exhibition will be featured at two Galleries located in the Berkshires in Western, MA: SOHN FINE ART GALLERY in Lenox, MA and LICHTENSTEIN CENTER FOR THE ARTS in Pittsfield, MA. The Exhibition will feature a curated selection of 10 photographs by 10 artists, with a total of 100 photographs in the show, split between the two Galleries. This is an opportunity to showcase a full body of work from your photographic portfolio. Any genre of photography can be submitted and all photographic mediums are eligible for submission. The Exhibitions are in conjunction with Cultural Pittsfield’s 10 x 10 Upstreet Arts Festival. The submission deadline is Sunday, November 20th. The exhibition will be on view at Sohn Fine Art Gallery January 27 – March 20, 2017 with a Reception Saturday, February 18, from 4:00 - 7:00. The exhibition will be on view at Lichtenstein Center for the Arts February 3 – February 27, 2017 with a Reception Thursday, February 16, from 5:00 - 7:00. ABOUT SOHN FINE ART GALLERY
Sohn Fine Art Gallery specializes in showing primarily contemporary photography and is dedicated to the development, promotion and exhibition of innovative contemporary artworks by international and local artists. ABOUT LICHTENSTEIN CENTER FOR THE ARTS
The Lichtenstein Center for the Arts is a community arts center housed in a historic building in Pittsfield's Upstreet Cultural District. Inside, there's an exhibiting art gallery and performance area, workshops, working artist studios, a ceramic studio and a darkroom. Located at 28 Renne Avenue off of Fenn Street, the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts is named in honor of Kitty Lichtenstein, an extraordinary arts benefactor in the Pittsfield community and beyond, who donated the building to the City of Pittsfield.

ABOUT THE CURATORS:

Cassandra Sohn  l  Gallery Owner & Director at Sohn Fine Art
Cassandra Sohn is the Owner and Director at Sohn Fine Art Gallery, Printing, Framing & Workshops. Sohn runs all departments of the company and is the founder of the Master Artist Series program. A photographer herself, she freelances for a variety of clients and is a Fine Art photographer who exhibits world-wide.  Sohn graduated from the New School in Manhattan with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Photography. She has been published in several books, and was the main contributing photographer in, Window on the Park - New York's Most Prestigious Properties On Central Park, published by Images Publishing. Sohn also teaches photography through her company's education program as well as at IS183 Art School of the Berkshires and Berkshire Community College.


Jen Glockner  I  Director of Cultural Development, City of Pittsfield 
Jen Glockner is an accomplished communications professional with experience in television, radio, social media, press relations and more.  Glockner’s career began in television, writing and producing newscasts at TV stations in Michigan, Colorado, and upstate New York.  She moved to the Berkshires more than ten years ago and worked in marketing and advertising before joining the City of Pittsfield in the Office of Cultural Development.  Jen has been actively involved in several regional organizations including: the Pittsfield Tourism Commission, the Junior League of Berkshire County, the Berkshire Leadership Program Steering Committee, the Mass Audubon Berkshire Wildlife Sanctuaries Committee and the Ad Club of Western Massachusetts.  She lives in Pittsfield with her husband Ted and their twin sons Sam and Ben.


Shiobbean Lemme  I  Administrative Assistant of Cultural Development, City of Pittsfield
Shiobbean Lemme has been with the Office of Cultural Development for more than three years.  She is the gallery manager for the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts and the coordinator of the Third Thursday Street Festival and the 10x10 Upstreet Arts Festival. Shiobbean is involved with several regional organizations including the Josh Billings Run Aground, the Downtown Pittsfield Inc Quality of Life Steering Committee and the Healthy Pittsfield Partnership.   Shiobbean and her husband Kent own the Berkshire Running Center, a run specialty store in Downtown Pittsfield.


Eric Korenman   I   Photographer
Korenman has pursued photography professionally since 2004. A fine art photographer, Korenman also works with private and corporate clients. Eric Korenman, holds a BA from Dartmouth College and a MD from Cornell University. His recent exhibitions have been at the Danforth Museum of Art, Framingham, Massachusetts; The Print Center, Philadelphia; Sohn Fine Art Gallery, Lenox, MA; Hudson Opera House, Hudson, NY and the Berkshire Museum, Pittsfield, MA. His editorial work includes publication in Art in America and Vogue.

SUBMISSIONS
  • All submissions must be made directly through CaFÉ (Call for Entry.org).
  • Submit up to 12 images in digital format. Submissions must be in the photography genre. All photographic mediums are eligible for submission. Digital files must be uploaded through CaFÉ in jpeg format with a resolution of 72 ppi and a dimension of 1920 pixels on long side and the file not exceeding 5 MB. The filename must have your first name, last name, then title of the photograph, in that order. Example: Cassandra_sohn_tulip.jpg
  • There is a $25 fee for submitting work to the exhibition. 




DEADLINE 
  • All entries must be received by November 20, 2016. If any of your work is accepted, you will be notified by December 16, 2017. 
  • If you are notified that you are accepted into the show, please confirm your acceptance as soon as possible. 
 
  • All artwork in the exhibition must be limited editions or one-of-a-kinds. All artwork in the exhibition will be for sale. All artwork must NOT EXCEED 24” in any direction. This includes the final “framed” dimension. Sohn Fine Art Gallery splits the commission with the artist 50/50. Sohn Fine Art will donate 10% of their proceeds to the Lichtenstein Center for the Arts.

*This competition is open to all. Sohn Fine Art curators will abstain from voting for artists who are represented by Sohn Fine Art.

Eligibility Criteria
