Skyway: A Contemporary Collaboration
June 24 – October 15, 2017

All artists residing in Florida's Hillsborough, Manatee, Pinellas, and Sarasota Counties are invited to submit entries for Skyway: A Contemporary Collaboration. Selected artists will exhibit recent work at one of the three participating institutions: the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, Sarasota; the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg; and the Tampa Museum of Art.

Artists are encouraged to submit any original artwork, including (but not limited to) paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, photography, video, performance, and site-specific installations. Only original works of art completed after January 2016 are eligible for submission.

No entry fee is required for this call.

Dates and Timeline
November 1-December 15, 2016: Submissions accepted
December 15, 2016: Call closes at 11pm EST
December 16-January 9, 2017: Submissions reviewed
February 1, 2017: Selected artists notified by email
March 1, 2017: Artist checklist information deadline
March 15, 2017: Artist selection for each venue
June 1, 2017:  Delivery of artwork at each institution
November 1, 2017: Artwork pick-up

Submission Requirements
Submissions will be accepted until December 15, 2016. For more information, email skywaytampabay@gmail.com. No entry fee is required for proposals. 

The application includes the submission of an artist statement, image list, and a portfolio of 3 – 5 images that are representative of the artist’s overall practice. Artists are encouraged to include an installation shot of their artwork to provide the selection committee some context of scale, presentation, etc. If selected, artists will be required to provide a professional, high-resolution image of one of the selected works (additional information will be supplied after notification of acceptance). 

Artist Statement and CV
Please prepare a 200 – 500 word artist statement describing your work or process. Also submit a 1 – 2 page CV that includes your most recent exhibition history. Both files should be either PDF or Word documents. 

Images
Please submit 3 – 5 images of existing or proposed work. Images should be JPEGs and a maximum file size of 5MB. Alternatively, artists may submit address links of audio or video files, if applicable. 

Files should be named in the following format: Image#_Lastname_Firstname_Title of Work. (For example: 01_Doe_Jane_Untitled.)

Image List
Please list the images included in your proposal. Images listed should correspond with the emailed digital files, each labeled in the following format: Image#_Lastname_Firstname_Title of Work.

INCOMPLETE SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE REVIEWED.

Shipping and Installation: Please Read Carefully

Shipping Original Works

1.    Accepted artists are responsible for all shipping arrangements and expenses. Round-trip shipping expenses must be pre-paid. Those sent C.O.D. will not be accepted. Please allow two weeks for shipment.
2.    All packing material must be sufficient for safe return.
3.    Do not use glass on artwork to be shipped.

Delivery and Pick-up

Original artwork accepted for exhibition must be delivered no later than June 1, 2017, and picked up no later than November 1, 2017, following the conclusion of the exhibition. No work that has been accepted as part of the exhibition will be permitted to be withdrawn before the close of the exhibition. Artwork will be not released to any person other than the artist without written authorization from the artist to the appropriate institution. 

Storage Charges

Unless prior written permission is granted, artwork not picked up by 12PM on November 1, 2017, will be subject to an initial charge of $20 plus $5 for each additional day. Any artwork not retrieved by November 15, 2017 will be considered a donation to be sold at the discretion of the institution. Artists will be liable for all additional expenses, including packing, transportation, insurance, and off-site storage.   

Installation

Artwork should be ready to install and properly identified with the provided label securely attached. Canvases with wet paint and frames in fragile condition will not be accepted. Large -scale works and installations may be subject to size and weight restrictions.

The decisions of the museum curators and visiting juror are final. No substitutions will be accepted.

There will be three opening receptions, held at each institution on the week of June 19th, 2017.
