CALLING ALL ARTISTS FOR SUBMISSIONS

OVERVIEW:

ArtPop is a program that promotes local artists' work through available billboard space in the greater Beaufort area. This program is made possible by generous donations of space from Adams Outdoor Advertising who partner with local arts groups to create the ArtPop program. The art work is promoted in the market on available billboard space to a limited number of artists who are chosen for the program. BAC is excited to partner with Adams Outdoor Advertising to offer this program in Beaufort!

 

Vinyl will be used from program inception for one year. Vinyl could be potentially displayed anywhere in the Adams Outdoor Beaufort coverage area. There are no guarantees on locations, as they could be anywhere for any length of time, and vinyls will rotate across available locations in the market on a space available basis.

SPECIFICATIONS:

  1. Artists who have won in prior years are NOT eligible to submit artwork
  2. Artist must be at least 18 years old.

  3. Artist must live in Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton, or Colleton counties.

  4. Artwork must be original, created by the artist submitting the artwork, and created in the last two years.

  5. All media is acceptable.

  6. Artwork must be appropriate for public viewing (Appropriateness determined at sole discretion of ArtPop Beaufort Jury)

  7. Artists working in 3D need to consider that the artwork will be photographed and shown 2D.

  8. Submitted artwork must meet the dimensional and format criteria as described in the Submission Guidelines.
     

AWARDS:

There will be TEN winners whose artwork will be rotating amongst at least 5 billboards if available throughout the greater Beaufort area for approximately one year.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

  1. All artwork will be submitted digitally through the ArtPop Beaufort link at BeaufortArtsCouncil.org (Artist will need to set up a free CaFE account in order to submit their entry).

  2. Artists may submit up to 3 images for considerations although no more than one winning image per artist will be selected for display

  3. Dimensions of file image will be 4.5” high by 11.166” wide aspect ratio.  This will translate onto a 10’-6”  high by 22’-9” wide Adams billboard. TO SUBMIT TO CAFE, PLEASE ADJUST YOUR FILE TO 1920px Wide by 896px High with a 72PPI. 

  4. All files must be .JPG or .PDF

  5. Color Format: RGB; File Size: NOT to exceed 5MB/image

  6. Artist Statement: A brief outline of your artistic journey, possibly including details about your artistic vision/ purpose and why the ArtPop program interests you as an artist.

  7. Resume/Biography

 **Images not submitted in the correct aspect ratio or file size will NOT be considered for judging.**

SELECTION:

A Jury (ArtPop Beaufort Jury) will select Ten images which will be displayed on billboards throughout the Beaufort area for approximately one year. The artist will give all reproduction and photographic rights for the artwork to the Beaufort Arts Council.

TIMELINE:

  1. The Beaufort Arts Council will open submissions on November 14, 2016 and will close the submission at midnight on January 15, 2017

  2. All images and information must be submitted to the ArtPop link at BeaufortArtsCouncil.org by 11:59 PM January 15, 2017

  3. Judging will take place in late January and winners will be announced prior to February 15th, 2016

  4. Winning artists will be notified and will be required to resubmit their artwork via email at a minimum of 300DPI and CMYK color format for high quality vinyl print reproduction purposes.

JUDGING METHODOLOGY: This is an open artwork competition. Work will be judged on:

  1. Execution and technique- the use of media and art tools, technical skills displayed, and successful selection of support.

  2. Personal expression- the degree of imagination, creativity and individuality used throughout the work.

  3. Organization- the effective use of the elements and principals of art to enhance the overall appearance of the work.

  4. Integration- the work integrates technique, expression, and organization through aesthetic and critical judgement, revision and evaluation, to achieve an effective interpretation of all aspects of work.

  5. Appropriateness for public viewing
