The 25th Biennale judge will be Susan Mayfield. Susan Mayfield is an award-winning artist known for her use of color and light in pastel and oils. Raised in the South Carolina Lowcountry, she earned a Fine Arts degree with honors from the College of Charleston and further studied with prominent artists from around the country. Mayfield has exhibited widely in both solo and group exhibitions, including the Gibbes Museum in Charleston, SC, the Joyce Robins Gallery in Sante Fe, NM, the Red Piano Gallery in Hilton Head, SC, the City Art Gallery in Greenville, NC among many others. In addition to painting, Mayfield teaches art classes in her studio and leads artist workshops around the country.

All entries will be juried from digital image. Each artist may enter up to three pieces of original artwork created within the last three years and never accepted into an Art League of Hilton Head juried show before. Only one piece of art per artist will be accepted into the show.

All information given on the original entry as to title, size and price will be accepted as final. No changes may be made once accepted into the show.

All exhibited work must be for sale and priced with intent to sell. A 40% commission to the Art League of Hilton Head Island, Inc. will be retained on all sales that occur during the show, or as a result of the show.

Entries must be original in concept, composition and execution. Artwork created under the supervision of an instructor is NOT eligible. Artwork must not be copied in part or wholly from any published or copyrighted work. Giclees are not acceptable.

Any entry considered offensive or not meeting exhibition criteria may be rejected by the Exhibition Committee at its sole discretion.

MEDIA CATEGORIES

·         Oil or Acrylic on canvas or board.

·         Watermedia – watercolor or acrylic on paper under plexiglass

·         Pastel

·         Mixed Media- Clear use of two or more materials on any surface

·         Three–dimensional art.

·         Photography – digital or film.

·         All other – Including drawing ( graphite, color pencil, charcoal, etc.) and original prints lithographs, etchings, monoprints, woodcuts, etc)

·         Excludes giclees, any photo reproductive process or computer art

PREPARATION FOR EXHIBITION

All works must be quality framed, and protected by plexiglass where appropriate. Only pastel pieces may be covered with glass. Each should be securely wired and ready for hanging. Pieces may not exceed 48”x48” including frame. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Although pieces up to 48”x48” are acceptable, shipping pieces over 130” in overall dimension may be very costly. Check with your local shipping agent for charges and details.

If your piece is matted the mat must be white or off-white. A thin colored inner line is acceptable.

Sculptures and other three-dimensional art must not exceed 60” vertical and 30” horizontal, or weigh more than 50 pounds. NO EXCEPTIONS.

Free standing sculptures should need no special mounting. Small works may be enclosed in a clear plastic case. Bas-reliefs must be wired for hanging.

If your entry is accepted, you will receive further instructions regarding shipment or hand delivery of your work with your notification.
