Open Orange 2017 - A ValleyArts Exhibition
ValleyArts is pleased to announce our Open Orange 2017 juried exhibition is open for subimissions.
Open to artists in the Tri-State area, working in two dimensional media, this contempory art exhibit will be held in the ValleyArts Community Gallery in the Valley Arts District of Orange and West Orange, NJ.
Our nationally prominent jurors are:
Diedre Harris-Kelley is the co-director of the Romare Beardon Foundation. An accomplished artist herself, Harris-Kelley is the curatorial lead for the foundation.
Nigel Freeman is the director of the African-American Fine Art department at Swann Auction Galleries, NYC. Freeman is the print appraiser on the PBS television show, Antiques Roadshow.
Caro Kalb-Marr is a gallery owner, curator and art collector. The daughter of an accomplished artist, Kalb-Marr has spent her whole life living and working in the arts.
Enter
Artists, 18 years and over, may submit 1, 2 or 3 works maximum. Jury selection is based on the artist's whole submission. Artwork size should be no larger than 36 inches by 36 inches, oversized pieces will not be considered for the show. All 2D original artwork will be cinsidered - painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, printmaking and other works on canvas, paper and board. There is a $35 non-refundable for the application. Entry fee and application to this juried show must be submitted online by midnight, Thursday, April 14th, 2017 at www.callforentry.org see site for submission guidelines and terms.

Artist Drop Off/Pick Up:
Please note; accepted works must be hand delivered and unpacked at the Community Gallery, 400 S. Jefferson Street, Orange, NJ 07050 on either Friday, May 5 from 3pm - 7pm or Saturday May 6, 2017 from 12pm - 4pm only. All packing materials must be removed from the Community Gallery at the time of drop off. Mailing artwork is not permitted—no shipments by third parties will be accepted. Framing must be of a professional standard, and be ready for hanging with attached wire. All artwork must be picked up by the artist, at the gallery, from 3pm-7pm on either Monday, June 12, 2017 or Tuesday, June 13, 2017.
Prize:
$400 will be awarded to one selected Best in Show artist.
Sales:
All accepted artwork must remain on display for the entire duration of the exhibition and be priced for sale. The Community Gallery will collect 30% commission on all gallery sales. Proceeds from the exhibition to be used for further programming in the ValleyArts community. Proceeds from sales will be disbursed to artists within 30 days of the close of exhibition.

The ValleyArts Community Gallery, located at 400 S. Jefferson Street in Orange, is a beautiful new space that opened in 2017 as a signature visual gallery space for ValleyArts. The gallery hosts an array of exhibitions, shows, and events throughout the year.
OPEN ORANGE 2017 is a project of the ValleyArts Visual Arts Advisory Committee. OPEN ORANGE 2017 is chaired by Jeremy Moss, who is Deputy Director of ValleyArts. Open Orange was founded by Nigel Freeman and Jeremy Moss in 2014.
