TRAHC’s 30th Annual Juried Exhibition Prospectus

ELIGIBILITY

The exhibition is open to all artists 18 years and older currently residing in the U.S. All work must be original in concept and not copied from another artist's work. No photography, video, film, jewelry, installations or artwork that requires special installation or assembly will be accepted. TRAHC is a family-oriented arts council and reserves the right to not display excessive nudity or offensive subject matter. This is at the discretion of the Executive Director of TRAHC. Entries must be received by Midnight MST June 10, 2018. Only entries submitted online through Callforentry.org will be considered. Entries are limited to a maximum of three works executed in the last two years (May 2016 - June 2018.) A maximum of two pieces of artwork per artist can be juried into the exhibit. Accepted work will be exhibited at TRAHC from July 27 - August 25, 2018.

 

FEES

$35 flat fee for up to three entries. All fees are non-refundable and payable through Callforentry.org. Entry fees may be paid by credit card only.

 

JUDGING

Judging occurs in two phases. The initial judging will take place from

June 11 – June 16, 2018. During this time, the juror will select the artwork to be accepted into the exhibit. After all accepted artwork has arrived, the juror will view the exhibit in person to select the award-winning artwork. Winners will be announced at the opening reception, Friday, July 27, 2018.

  

NOTIFICATION

Results of the first phase of judging will be emailed on June 18, 2018.

All notifications will be sent by email through Callforentry.org.  These emails occasionally end up in one's spam/junk box.  Please add the Callforentry.org email address to your address book.

 

ACCEPTED WORK

Accepted artists will receive instructions for shipping and hand delivery. Shipping costs and insurance are the responsibility of the artist. All entries will be handled with reasonable care, but neither TRAHC nor its representatives will be responsible for loss or damage. 

Reusable shipping containers only. TRAHC encourages artists to insure their artwork when shipping. No glass allowed, unless for pastel work (at the artist’s own risk.) Plexiglas only.

 No packing peanuts allowed. Any shipped artwork found with packing peanuts will not be unpacked, displayed, or eligible for an award.

Shipping via FedEx or UPS is mandatory. Any artwork arriving through USPS will be held until a pre-paid return-shipping label from FedEx or UPS is provided. All shipped artwork must include a pre-paid return-shipping label from either FedEx or UPS.

Artists may hand-deliver accepted artwork during TRAHC's open hours Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m.

All accepted artwork is due by Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 3:45 p.m.

 

SPECIFICATIONS

All works accepted for the exhibition must be original, completed, and ready to hang. Substitutions of accepted works will not be allowed and all delivered work must match the image juried.

Frames, mats, and wiring must be professional quality and in good condition. No chrome frames. Wiring must be in good condition and substantial enough for the weight of the artwork. All paintings must be framed or gallery wrapped with fully painted edges. Two-dimensional works on paper must be framed and under Plexiglas, unless artwork medium is pastel. Artwork using pastel may be framed and under glass (at the artist’s own risk.) All freestanding sculptures must have felt pads attached to the bottom.

Accepted artwork may not be removed from TRAHC prior to August 28, 2018.

  

SALES

Any artwork sold to the public will incur a 20% commission. Prices quoted on the entry form may not be changed after acceptance. Please call 903-792-8681 for pricing related issues.

No purchased work may be removed from TRAHC until the close of the exhibition.

If your artwork is "Not for Sale," please add “NFS” to the description box of the artwork in question. 

Artwork listed as “Purchase upon Request” will not be accommodated and will be listed as “Not for Sale.”

 

LIABILITY

Works are entered at the artist's own risk. Artwork will be handled with reasonable care. TRAHC and its representatives will not be responsible for loss, theft, or damage of artworks while in the gallery's possession or in transit. TRAHC encourages artists to insure their artwork when shipping.

  

REPRODUCTION

TRAHC reserves the right to photograph or use any of the works for publicity purposes. Images of accepted entries will become the property of TRAHC to be used for the catalogue and other printed materials, archives, website, and for educational purposes. The artist retains all copyrights for their artwork. The artist waives any claim, including any claim for invasion of the right of privacy of copyright, against TRAHC, its directors, employees, and volunteers.

  

AGREEMENT

The submission of entries to this competition shall be understood to constitute an agreement on the part of the artist to all rules and conditions as set forth in this prospectus. Entries not meeting the criteria listed herein will be disqualified, and the entry fee will not be refunded. TRAHC is a family-oriented arts council and reserves the right to not display excessive nudity or offensive subject matter. This is at the discretion of the Executive Director of TRAHC.

 

PICK UP

Due to TRAHC's extremely limited storage space, artwork left more than 30 days after August 28, 2018 (September 28, 2018) will be deemed the property of TRAHC unless arrangements have been made in writing and agreed up on by both parties. Any artwork that arrived through USPS will be held until a pre-paid return-shipping label from FedEx or UPS is provided.

 

ENTRY PROCEDURE - ONLINE ONLY

All submissions will be through Callforentry.org (www.callforentry.org). Entries must be submitted on or before June 10, 2018. No entries will be accepted after this date.

Upload requirements for image files:

  • File format: JPEG only
  • File dimensions: No smaller than 1920 pixels on the longest side
  • File resolution: 72 ppi/dpi (standard web resolution)
  • File size: 3 MB maximum
  • Image must be correctly oriented (vertical or horizontal)
  • No digital enhancement is allowed
  • Maximum of 3 photos per entry

Artists within driving distance of Texarkana may book an appointment with TRAHC to help them photograph and upload their entry to Callforentry.org. All assistance will take place during business hours at the Regional Arts Center. No appointments may be made after Friday, May 25, 2018.

Sean FitzGibbons received his BA in American Studies at the University of Texas in Austin, and his MFA at Washington University in Saint Louis. Recently, he was the Senior Management Analyst for the City of San Antonio’s Department of Arts & Culture where he facilitated contemporary art exhibits for the city’s two galleries and consulted on downtown murals for Downtown Operations. He was professor of the Business for Creatives and 4D Design courses at Aurora Community College in Colorado, and has served as a guest lecturer for numerous universities and programs. Currently, Sean FitzGibbons is the Director of the Meadows Museum of Art at Centenary College in Shreveport, LA.
