Dab Art’s juried shows have featured remarkable and notable artists from all over the globe. Our venue is H Gallery + Studios, a 1930's-era building located between Malibu and Ojai in the greater Los Angeles area. The vintage industrial charm of H Gallery’s vaulted ceilings, suspended display walls and substantial exhibition space create a unique and highly visited gallery. Dab Art’s high-caliber reputation, progressive curating style and distinquished guest jurors makes our annual photography competiion one of the most coveted contemporary exhibitions in Southern California.

DETAILS - Entries will be juried and selected based on technical application, originality and concept.
 Finalists will be invited to show their work in a six-week exhibition at H Gallery. Artists selected for this exhibit will also be featured along with their photos in a book published by Dab Art titled MNEMONIC. This full-color folio will be added to the permanent catalog in the LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) Balch Art Research Library. All exhibiting photographers will receive a gratis paperback edition of MNEMONIC from Dab Art; a hardback book will also be available for purchase at www.dabart.me.

LACMA - The largest art museum in the western United States, LACMA’s Balch Art Research Library maintains an extensive research-level collection of approximately 175,000 books, journals, periodicals and art publications. This non-circulating collection consists of monographs on artists and specialized art subjects; art reference books; collection and exhibition catalogues of museums, galleries, and private collectors; scholarly periodicals in the field of art and related areas; current auction catalogues; artist files; and material in related fields of study.  

DISTINGUISHED JUROR - Michael Miner started his professional career in hollywood as a cinematographer and director/cameraman. Finding success as a writer,  he co-wrote the screenplay for ROBOCOP, which received a SATURN AWARD for Best Science Fiction Screenplay and a nomination for Best Screenplay by the Mystery Writers of America. In addition to co-writing the 1993 & 2014 ROBOCOP sequals and television series, Michael directed the films DEADLY WEAPON & THE BOOK OF STARS. Today he continues to develop screenplays for studios, networks and directors including Oliver Stone, Sylvester Stallone and Michael Douglas. As a well traveled and seasoned photographer, Michael's passion and dedication to film is easily recognized in his highly sought after black and white  landscape images. Captured with his large format 4 X 5, 5 X 7 and 8 X 10 sheet film cameras. His photography is exhibited in galleries throughout Caliifornia, including San Francisco, Carmel and Los Angeles.                                                                                                                                                                                                    

CRITERIA - Photographers must be at least 18 years old to enter. This is an open theme competition; all genres, photography formats and print mediums are acceptable. 

AWARDS - As determined by our jury panel, cash awards will be given; $300 (Best In Show) $200 (Runner Up). All finalists selected to exhibit will receive a gratis paperback copy of MNEMONIC.

PANEL DISCUSSION - 3 Artists will be selected to particpate in a televised panel discussion. This moderated panel will feature the selected artists process and discuss their works in the exhibition.

Utilzing the same market platform has greatly expanded our collector visibility, elevating Dab Art's status in the contemporary art market.

COMMISSION - Dab Art retains a 40% commission on all exhibition & website sales.

SALES - Remittances are paid within 60 days after the exhibit concludes. 

SHIPPING – READ CAREFULLY! - Absolutely no packing peanuts! Boxes, crates and even small packages containing packing peanuts will be resealed, immediately returned and eliminated from the exhibition, no exceptions. There will be an additional small cash award for the most professionally packed artwork! Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance (during shipping) of artworks. International artists are responsible for paying all international fees. All shipments must include a prepaid UPS OR FED EX (absolutely no USPS STAMPS) return label and be shipped in a container appropriate for re-use in return shipping.
