REVERIE, A PRINTMAKING EXCHANGE

THE PROJECT: Twelve juried artists will create an original archival print in a numbered edition of eighteen (18). Suggested archival printmaking media are monoprint, cyanotype, relief/block printing, etching, collagraph, silkscreen, lithography, and letterpress. The edition of 18 completely dry prints is to be delivered to Sanchez Art Center by 5 pm on Thurs March 15, 2018. Each participant will receive a boxed portfolio set of 12 prints, and the 6 remaining boxed portfolio sets will be available to collectors to benefit Sanchez Art Center.

ELIGIBILITY: Entrants must be 18 or older, and must be members of the Art Guild of Pacifica (AGP). Non-members may join AGP when submitting their entry online on CAFE™.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT: Benefits of participating include a rewarding creative experience; fellowship and exchange of art with other printmakers; increased visibility; and support for Sanchez Art Center. Sanchez Art Center, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit community art center that makes art accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds, is also the home of Art Guild of Pacifica.

ENTRY DEADLINE: Tuesday, Nov 28, 2017. Entries must be submitted online at CallforEntry.org (CaFETM) by 11:00 pm Pacific Standard Time.

JUROR: Matt Pipes is a San Francisco–based printmaker and painter. He is the studio manager at Trillium Graphics and is an adjunct instructor of printmaking at City College of San Francisco.

ABOUT SANCHEZ ART CENTER: The mission of Sanchez Art Center is to create community through art. Sanchez Art Center was established in 1996 when artists and community members converted an old school into a multi-use arts complex that now includes 3 galleries, 19 art studios, an arts classroom, and the Mildred Owen Concert Hall. Sanchez Art Center offers exhibitions by established and emerging artists. We make art accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds by offering a variety of free exhibitions and lectures, affordable studio rentals, workshops and classes for teens and adults, and after-school art classes, summer camps, and in-school art classes for kids, as well as community art projects and opportunities.

APPLY: All entries must be made online at CallforEntry.org. Artists may submit up to three examples of their best printmaking work. These should be examples of 2-dimensional hand-pulled prints, made through various archival printmaking processes. For info on how to apply: https://www.callforentry.org/faq.phtml. If you have difficulties online, use the Help feature on the CaFETM site or email CaFE@Westaf.org.

ENTRY FEES: A non-refundable $15 fee is required at the time of entry. An additional $20 participation fee is due upon acceptance to cover the costs of materials such as the archival boxes and other project expenses. (Art Guild vouchers are not accepted in lieu of the entry or participation fee.) Accepted artists must bring or mail checks payable to “Sanchez Art Center” to: Sanchez Art Center, 1220-B Linda Mar Blvd, Pacifica, CA 94044, by Dec 14, 2017.  If you are not already a member of the Art Guild of Pacifica, you may join online at CAFE™ during your submission of your artwork images. Art Guild of Pacifica annual dues are $25, which will cover membership through the end of 2018. An additional $0.50 processing fee will be charged as well.

THEME: The theme for this 2018 exchange is “Reverie.” Reverie is a state of being pleasantly lost in one's thoughts; a state in which you are thinking about pleasant things; a daydream.  Some synonyms for “Reverie” are contemplation, fantasy, meditation, daydream, dream, trance, musing.
