Sculpture Evergreen has established a program of art acquisition that will beautify public buildings and open spaces in Evergeen, CO, located in the foothills west of Denver. Our mission is to encourage the expression and appreciation of art through education and other public activities and programs. A critical component of Sculpture Evergreen's mission is the annual Sculpture Walk. This is a juried exhibition of up to 16 large sculptures suitable for OUTDOOR DISPLAY. These will be on display for one year, until June, 2020, with the possibility of a few being held over for an additional year (with artist's permission. An  additional stipend will be paid).  Sculptures must arrive in Evergreen on Friday, June 1, 2019.. Sculptures will be installed Saturday, June 2nd, 2019. Artists must be present for their installation.  Sculptures will remain in place for one year (until May 31st, 2020). Artists must also be present for the de-installation at that time. Sculptures must be soundly and professionally constructed of durable materials suitable for OUTDOOR  EXHIBIT.  They must withstand wind gusts up to 100 mph without incurring damage, and have a steel mounting plate for welding to a pedestal, have another suitable attachment method; or be of sufficient weight and durability that the sculpture can be safely and securely placed on the ground without toppling, or being removed in an unauthorized fashion. Any free-standing sculpture must be at least 42” tall to be considered. Many of our sites demand larger sculptures, and pieces standing between 4-12 feet in height have the best chance of being chosen The $30 entry fee includes entry of up to 3 pieces (nine photos in all). for each submitted sculpture, 3 photos must be provided: frontal, rear, and one detailed image. All works must be original. Accepted works must be identical to the images submitted. Please familiarize yourself with our website, and note the sites for sculptures. There is a Juried Award of $1000, and an award for People's Choice voted upon by the public. There is a chance your sculpture will be purchased outright by one of the area’s many art patrons. Sculpture Evergreen receives a 25% commission on any sales occuring during the time the sculpture is included in the Walk. Since the inception of this competition, 35 pieces have been purchased for inclusion in Sculpture Evergreen's permanent collection and many more have been purchased by individuals. Entries must be submitted through CaFE by DECEMBER 31, 2018 (midnight Mountain Standard time). Artists will be notified of acceptance by phone by January 31, 2019. Sculptures must arrive in Evergreen on Friday, June 1st, 2019 and will be installed the following day, Saturday, June 2nd, 2019. Artists must be present for the installation.  Overnight accomodations will be provided by Sculpture Evergreen for those artists traveling more than 50 miles from Evergreen.  Artists are invited to a Reception in their honor on Friday evening before the installation and to a celebratory lunch on Saturday following the installation.
