Exhibition Overview:

Beyond Walls is a celebration of art in public spaces. Organized by the Cornelius PARC Department and the Cornelius Public Art Committee, the selected works will be installed at Robbins Park at 17738 West Catawba Ave in Cornelius, NC from May 2018 through January 2019. Robbins Park offers an idyllic park setting with significant park visitor traffic to interact with art and high visibility from a major Town road which generates over 25,000 trips per day. Thank you for your interest in submitting work for Beyond Walls Public Art Exhibition.

Guidelines For Submission:
  • This show is only open to freestanding art. Please do not submit proposals for murals or other pieces that must attach to a wall.
  • Any materials may be used as long as the sculpture is prepared for weather exposure and will not deteriorate during the duration of the show. Please consider gusts of wind up to 50mph as the site for this show is located within close proximity to Lake Norman.
  • The committee is looking for pieces of various sizes. Our preferred sizes are up to 20’ in width and up to 12’ in height. The committee will accept individual pieces, outdoor art installations and/or groupings of smaller pieces.
How To Apply:

"APPLY TO THIS CALL" at the top of this page. Applicants will be prompted to submit their resume, bio and upload up to 3 images of 3 unique pieces, including dimensions, weight and installation needs for each piece for consideration in the exhibition. Please complete the online application by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018.

Selection Process:

A panel consisting of Town staff, Public Art Committee members, art professionals, curators and citizens of Cornelius will vote to select approximately 10 pieces that will go on exhibit.
