Open Orange 2018 - A ValleyArts Exhibition

ValleyArts is pleased to announce our Open Orange 2018 juried exhibition is open for subimissions.
Open to artists in the Tri-State area, working in two dimensional media, this contempory art exhibit will be held in the ValleyArts Community Gallery in the Valley Arts District of Orange and West Orange, NJ.

Our nationally prominent jurors are:

Nigel Freeman is the director of the African-American Fine Art department at Swann Auction Galleries, NYC. Freeman is the print appraiser on the PBS television show, Antiques Roadshow.

Tricia Laughlin Bloom is the curator of American art at the Newark Museum. Previously Laughlin Bloom was the associate curator of exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum.

Mary Jane Van Zeijts is an award winning artist, teacher and owner of Studio 268; a gallery and teaching space.



Enter
Artists, 18 years and over, may submit 1, 2 or 3 works maximum. Jury selection is based on the artist's whole submission. Artwork size should be no larger than 36 inches by 36 inches, oversized pieces will not be considered for the show. All 2D original artwork will be cinsidered - painting, drawing, photography, mixed media, printmaking and other works on canvas, paper and board. All work should be dated and produced in the last three years.There is a $35 non-refundable for the application. Entry fee and application to this juried show must be submitted online by midnight, Thursday, April 12th, 2018 at www.callforentry.org see site for submission guidelines and terms.

Reception and Best In Show Announcement:
                                    Thursday May 10, 2018, 6pm - 9pm

Artist Talk and                  
Closing Reception:       Saturday, June 9, 2018,  3pm - 6pm

Artist Drop Off/Pick Up:
Please note; accepted works must be hand delivered and unpacked at the Community Gallery, 400 S. Jefferson Street, Orange, NJ 07050 on either Friday, May 4 from 3pm - 7pm or Saturday May 5, 2018 from 12pm - 4pm only.  All packing materials must be removed from the Community Gallery at the time of drop off. Mailing artwork is not permitted—no shipments by third parties will be accepted. Framing must be of a professional standard, and be ready for hanging with attached wire. All artwork must be picked up by the artist, at the gallery, from 10am-1pm on Sunday, June 10 or 4pm-7pm on Monday, June 11, 2018.

Prize:
$350 will be awarded to one selected Best in Show artist.

Sales:
All accepted artwork must remain on display for the entire duration of the exhibition and be priced for sale. The Community Gallery will collect 30% commission on all gallery sales. Proceeds from the exhibition to be used for further programming in the ValleyArts community. Proceeds from sales will be disbursed to artists within 30 days of the close of exhibition.

The ValleyArts Community Gallery is located at 400 S. Jefferson Street in Orange, NJ. OPEN ORANGE 2018 gallery hours are; Monday to Friday 10am - 5pm, Saturdays, 10am to 4pm, Sundays, 11am - 4pm. You may also arrange appointments for other times by calling 862 252 7035.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY GALLERY 
The ValleyArts Community Gallery, located at 400 S. Jefferson Street in Orange, is a beautiful new space that opened in 2017 as a signature visual gallery space for ValleyArts. The gallery hosts an array of exhibitions, shows, and events throughout the year. 

OPEN ORANGE 2018 is a project of the ValleyArts Visual Arts Advisory Committee. OPEN ORANGE 2018 is chaired by Jeremy Moss, Executive Director of ValleyArts. Open Orange was founded by Nigel Freeman and Jeremy Moss in 2014.
