CALL FOR ENTRIES

Online Deadline: September 9, 2018

Exhibition Dates: November 15 – December 30, 2018

DESCRIPTION

The 2018 Annual Holiday Art Market (HART) at Foothills Art Center (FAC) is the premier venue for fabulous fine arts and crafts, handmade in Colorado. This is the 44th HART and it will be open through the holiday season from November 15 – December 30, 2018. Admission is free to the public. The Market attracts hundreds of shoppers who have spent thousands of dollars in the past. Artwork by the selected artists is displayed attractively in a festive setting.

We are seeking fine art and craft in all media suitable for the holiday market:  2-D media, ceramics, jewelry, glass, fiber, leather, metal, wood, edibles, and holiday-themed items, including decorations, ornaments and greeting cards. Artists are juried on their body of work and the artwork is accepted on a consignment basis.

All proceeds benefit local Colorado artists and Foothills Art Center programming.

FOOTHILLS ART CENTER

Foothills Art Center (FAC) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization located in historic downtown Golden, Colorado. For 50 years, FAC has been devoted to leading and inspiring the community through art, education and cultural excellence. FAC was founded in 1968 and is housed in the former First Presbyterian Church, constructed by pioneers in the Gothic style (1872).  FAC also owns the neighboring Queen Anne style manse built by Perre O. Unger (1899). The buildings are works of art themselves and are listed on the United States National Registry of Historic Buildings.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Historically, items priced between $3.00 and $650.00 sell best, especially items under $50.00.  We will accept work above $650 but the artist may be asked not to bring specific work or quantities.
  • Accepted work must be ready to display. All wall art must have proper hanging mechanism—wire (ends wrapped), D rings; no sawtooth hangers.

{C}·         At their sole discretion, any artist’s item not meeting Foothills Art Center’s criteria or standard will be returned to the artist immediately and not become a part of inventory.

ACCEPTANCE AND DELIVERY OF ARTWORK

  • The jury will evaluate the images by artist (sent via CaFE only) rather than by artwork; you could be accepted for one type of item and not for another. The images submitted for jury should accurately represent the variety of the artwork you would like to sell.
  • FAC will send notifications to all applicants via e-mail by September 1, 2018.
  • The artist contract is due (postmarked by) from accepted artists by September 8, 2018. Failure to respond by this date may result in disqualification.
  • FAC will send accepted artists detailed information regarding delivery and pick up.
  • All work must be hand-delivered to FAC November 6 – November 10, 2018, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm by appointment only.
  • At time of delivery, artists will be required to properly place price tags (provided by Foothills) on all of their artwork.

SALES

  • All items are merchandised together into one market experience. FAC staff handles the installation and display of all artwork.
  • FAC collects money and sales tax on all items sold.
  • FAC retains a 50% commission on sales.   A commission of 60% will be paid to artists who volunteer 28 hours over the 7 week period (including hours volunteered for set-up and take-down).   A 55% commission will be paid to artists who volunteer 14 hours during the market.  Volunteers are needed daily during the market and also during special events.  The market operates 7 days a week, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Saturday and 12 p.m.-5 p.m., Sunday.

AGREEMENT

  • Submission of work to this jury process constitutes an agreement on the part of the artist to the conditions set forth in this prospectus.
  • FAC reserves the right to make final curatorial, installation, and marketing decisions.
  • Images submitted may be used for marketing, educational, or archival purposes.
