About the Pacific Coast Fog Fest

The Pacific Coast Fog Fest was created in 1986 by the City of Pacifica to promote Pacifica and to celebrate the sun, sand, and surf that grace our marvelous coast. The annual Fog Fest attracts visitors, celebrates our community, and raises funds for local community groups as well as the “Gift for Pacifica Fund.” FFOG, Inc. now has up to 50 community groups participating, and to date, a total of $1,000,000 has been donated back to these groups.

The Pacific Coast Fog Fest takes place on the last full weekend of September, since historically the weather then is unbeatable. The festivities kick off Saturday morning at 10 am with the Discover Pacifica Parade and Marching Band Competition. Visitors can enjoy many booths featuring Arts and Crafts, Food and Beverage, Music and Entertainment, Family Fun Fest, and a variety of other activities.

About Sanchez Art Center

The mission of Sanchez Art Center is to create community through art. Sanchez Art Center was established in 1996 when artists and community members converted an old school into a multi-use arts complex that now includes 3 galleries, 19 art studios, an art classroom, and the Mildred Owen Concert Hall. Sanchez Art Center offers exhibitions by established and emerging artists. We make art accessible to people of all ages and backgrounds by offering a variety of free exhibitions and lectures, affordable studio rentals, workshops and classes for teens and adults, after-school classes, summer camps, and in-school art classes for kids, and community art projects and opportunities. Among these is the annual Fog Fest Photo Contest, which we hold each year as part of our Art Corner at the Fog Fest. We then invite the award-winning photographers to exhibit their work in our East Gallery the following year. In addition, we manage the Fog Fest Poster Contest.

The Contest: The artwork submission period will begin March 23 and end May 18, 2018. Artists may submit up to three works. They should be two-dimensional, portrait-oriented original works of art. The winning artwork will be used for the official poster for the 2018 Pacific Coast Fog Fest. Posters will be created in two sizes: 11” x 17” and 8.5” x 11”. Suggested themes: "Fog Fest Full Sail 33" (this year's overall and parade theme) coastal, beach, surfing, music, art, mountains, mermaids.   Artists are strongly encouraged to review past Pacific Coast Fog Fest Posters for themes and ideas. Please see https://pacificcoastfogfest.com (About Us/Poster Gallery) for reference to elements.

Eligibility: Artists must be 18 or older and must reside or work in one of the following Bay Area counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, or Sonoma.

Jurors: Sanchez Art Center and the Fog Fest Organizing Group, Inc. (FFOG, Inc.) will choose the winning artwork.

Prize: The winning artist will receive a $1,000 prize from the Fog Fest Organizing Group, Inc.
