Entry Deadline: March 22, 2019

Art League of Hilton Head invites you to enter the 2019 Biennale, its 26th National Juried Exhibition, held every other year across multiple media types. Over $5000 in cash prizes will be awarded. All works of art selected by jurors will be on display at Art League Gallery in the Arts Center of Coastal Carolina on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This state of the art gallery provides the finest exhibit space with high tourist and community visibility.

The 2019 Biennale judge is Alan Flattmann, an internationally known, award-winning artist accomplished in oil and watercolor and best known for his work in pastel.  His book The Art of Pastel Painting is still widely considered the definitive guide to pastel. He is a Pastel Society of America’s Hall of Fame Honoree and an Eminent Pastelist of the International Association of Pastel Societies. Flattmann's work has been featured in over 40 art books and magazines including Plein Air, Watercolor, American Artist, and Pastel Journal.

Flattmann’s work has been shown in more than 60 solo exhibitions and included in major group exhibitions internationally. His paintings can be found in the public collections of numerous museums as well as hundreds of private and corporate collections. He is also the subject of three additional books, most recently An Artist’s Vision of New Orleans: The Paintings of Alan Flattmann (2014, Pelican Publishing.) Flattman is a noted instructor who teaches workshops around the country and abroad. He is also a founder and currently the president of the Degas Pastel Society.
