REQUIREMENTS:
All artists 18 years of age and older residing in the West Coast states of Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington are invited to provide up to three submissions in one or more of the printmaking processes. Any and all themes of expression define the parameters of acceptable entries.

Printmaking Specifications and General Rules:

●     This exhibition will feature the fine art of printmaking, including the four traditional methods of intaglio, relief, screen print (stencil), and lithography, along with monotype, monoprint, combination of these methods. Original and copyright-free digital media may be utilized. Art must be hand-pulled and generated using at least one of above mentioned printmaking methods. Computer generated art is eligible only when it incorporates traditional methods of hand pulled printing.

●     Only limited edition, monotype, and monoprint fine art prints will be accepted.

●     Drawings, photographs and direct reproductions of drawings and paintings are not eligible.

●     Prints must have been created within the last two years (2016-2018) and not have been previously exhibited at Coos Art Museum.

●     Artwork must be wired and ready for hanging. No sawtooth hangers. All framed conventional work must use Plexiglas except with hand-delivered work less than 24” x 30”.

●     All artwork must be no larger than 48 inches overall in any direction and a weight limitation of 40 pounds. This includes frame.

●     Sales: Works in the exhibition may be available for sale. Artist agrees to donate 30% of any sale to Coos Art Museum. PLEASE PRICE YOUR WORKS WITH THIS IN MIND. Sales made from the museum are final. Artist is to be paid three weeks from end of show. Your entry confirms all terms of this agreement.

GUIDELINES:
• Artists may submit up to 3 works.
• Entry Fees: Each artist can provide a total of up to three (3) submissions. There is a non-refundable fee of $25 for the first submission plus $10 for the second submission plus $10 for the third submission.
• Artist is responsible for covering all shipping costs for delivery and return of artwork.
• Art must be original and not a reproduction.
• Art dimensions should not exceed 48 inches in any direction.
• All art sent to Coos Art Museum must be framed and ready to hang.
• Artists must be a resident of the United States and be 18+ years old.
• Coos Art Museum will receive a 30% donation from each work sold.
• Accepted artwork may be refused last minute at Coos Art Museum’s discretion if unable to install or hang properly, or if art varies greatly from the submission image.
• Coos Art Museum is not responsible for any artwork damaged, broken, or stolen while on exhibit, in storage, or in transit to and from the exhibition.
• Coos Art Museum recommends all artists carry insurance sufficient to cover the full replacement value of their artwork.

CASH AWARDS:

1st: $600, 2nd: $450, 3rd: $250 and 4 Honorable Mention Awards at $100 ea.

Juror: Nicole Pietrantoni

Nicole ​Pietrantoni​​ explores the complex relationship between human beings and nature via installations, artists’ books, and works on paper. She is the recipient of numerous awards and residencies including a Fulbright to Iceland, a Leifur Eiríksson Foundation Grant, an Artist Trust Fellowship, the Manifest Prize, and the Graves Award for excellence in ​h​umanities teaching and research. Her work has been in over 100 ​national and international exhibitions.

Nicole received her MFA and MA in Printmaking from the University of Iowa and her BS in Human and Organizational Development and Art History from Vanderbilt University. ​ ​​Since 2012, she​ has been a professor at Whitman College where she teaches printmaking and book arts.​


Coos Art Museum Print Permanent Collection
Coos Art Museum Permanent Collection currently comprises over 600 works of art. It was greatly augmented in 1972-73 when 94 fine art prints were purchased with a matching grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Currently, the number of original prints is 259 and continues to grow with contemporary national and international artists. Among those represented in the collection are Alexander Calder, Robert Kipniss, Richard Meier, Howardena Pindell, Robert Rauschenberg, James Rosenquist, and Larry Rivers.

Coos Art Museum is the cornerstone of visual arts on Oregon’s Southern Coast.
